I can not see why it would not work, most nfl teams are in nickle anyway. They play a 4-2 nickle with the same DL and you could take off borland and add ward or whomever. Would also keep all of your LBs on the field.

If there's one lesson that needs to be learned, you will never ever ever ever ever ever ever EVER EVA beat Russell and the Seahawks with blitzes. How many times does he to burn this defense with 63 yrd TD before they get it. They've already blown things up, they may as well go 4-3.

Anything less than Jim Schwartz (or similar caliber) at DC or Chud/Shannahan (or similar caliber) at OC is not acceptable.

You can't be cheap and hire "a guy" as your head coach and not break the bank on rockstars at OC and DC. When your head coach brings nothing but like ability and Ra Ra to the table you need coordinators with proven scheme/teaching ability.

Now the next problem will be retaining them if they succeed (yet another reason why you don't hire "a guy" as your head coach).

The other understated plus of Schwartz and Chud is that both failed as a HC so both the teams and coach would be hesitant for another go (see McDaniels and Kubiak).

I'd be on board with Schwartz if the 49ers move to a 4-3. He gets good results everywhere he's gone. Not sure who the 3 tech would be. Probably Tank. Quite a change for a guy that was an edge rusher in college, was learning 3-4 DE, then probably move to 3tech.

I understand. Tarver does have SOME credibility though. Raiders defense went from back of the back to almost middle of the road without any huge improvement in talent...and with bad offenses which kept them on the field all day long.

Why does tarver get so much hate? The Raiders defense was pretty solid with less talent that ours. I remember they had a top 5 passing defense last season and our defense by default has a great run defense. Is your egos that big that you can't accept anyone from the raiders?
