Let's not forget dude looks clueless when someone makes a catch on him. Dude has been burnt more times than toast, I don't give a s**t what PFF says, I actually watch 9er games not put together numbers like a frickin calculator.

Uh huh, you sure watch the games and apparently no one else does LOL. Stop, Cox was burnt a lot more and was pretty garbage after the bye week. Men lie, women lie, NUMBERS DON'T! But even if numbers don't tell the entire story as they don't, the EYE test actually showed the opposite of what you think. Culliver has been our best CB the last two years he played.

Cully can be dominant like in 2012...he started getting back to the same guy towards the end of the season..when cox dropped off
I like both guys but I would keep cully if I had to pick

Personally I gotta go with Cully on this one...I just feel like he is the better overall player and still remember what he did for us against Megatron in 2011 when people still thought we were a fluke. He did a solid job as a Rook being physical vs the Gawd WR that game and we took our rightful place as an NFL juggernaut after that game imo

apparently you don't if you decided to type this.
once he was healthy he was rock solid. his side of the field was great.

As much as I like Cox (lol) I would have to take Culliver over him. The catches I seen made on Chris this past season were with good coverage but with great throws that could not be defended. Parrish Cox made some big time interceptions throughout the season and there is no doubt about that. However, I also seen him on many occasions get turned around and beat when recievers would break off into their route, leaving plenty of YAC.

Yah apparently I don't, since I've only been a mod of this site since the internets was invented.
I just come here for s**ts and giggles (mostly for giggles) and just talk about MMA and the UFC yah that's right.
Yah Culliver was rock solid alright....dumb as a rock solid. (humor relax)
In all honesty, his side of the field was and always has been inconsistent, he mostly gets beat on hitch routes or come backs. Cox is much better at man-coverage than he is.

OK, show me the numbers, please I would love for you to break it down for me. And don't just show snap counts, percentages of this or that. Tell me, how many times Culliver and Cox were thrown to, who defended more, how many mis-tackles did one have. Don't show me who gave up less first downs, that stat is very misleading. I'd also like to see how many times each CB has been beat deep, please list the receiver that beat him too. Let me give you an example of a mis-leading stat, Perrish Cox has 18 pass defended, Chris Culliver has 15 passes defended, just by looking at that you would think Cox was the better CB. Eye test you say, well enlighten me.

i actually think culliver is the better of the two when it come to man coverage the only knock i have against culliver is his ball location skills

Culliver can not turn and make a play on the ball. Cox made more good plays this season than culliver in the last three. Cox. Not really a controversy.

Without joining the debate between CullyInTheHouse and Kolohe here are a few of the numbers Kolohe asked for.
Week 1 - Week 17 2014
Perrish Cox: Thrown At 96 times, Receptions Allowed 59, Yards Allowed 830, Longest Reception 63 yards, Passes Defensed 18, Interceptions 5, Missed Tackles 4, NFL QB Rating 78.0
Chris Culliver: Thrown At 73 times, Receptions Allowed 37, Yards Allowed 468, Longest Reception 45 yards, Passes Defensed 15, Interceptions 4, Missed Tackles 4, NFL QB Rating 66.5
Since Bye Week (Week 9 vs Rams - Week 17 vs Cardinals)
Perrish Cox: Thrown At 55 times, Receptions Allowed 38, Yards Allowed 525, Longest Reception 63 yards, Passes Defensed 6, Interceptions 2, Missed Tackles 4, NFL QB Rating 96.4
Chris Culliver: Thrown At 40 Times, Receptions Allowed 18, Yards Allowed 207, Longest Reception 25 yards, Passes Defensed 12, Interceptions 4, Missed Tackles 2, NFL QB Rating 46.6
I agree with thl408 that on tape Culliver looks like the better press/tight man coverage defender and Cox like the better pattern match/zone defender.

It'd be nice if we could keep both as the outside corners with Johnson at nickel.
