Really looking forward to seeing Millard on the field.

I hope they give him a sot at TE.
I hope the 49ers are aggressive about fixing the scheme and talent level on offense. A couple of simple moves to fix the WR position would be to trade for Gordon with a 6th round draft pick, and draft White or Parker in the first round. You would immediately turn a weakness into a strength. Then attribute the remainer of the draft at getting DL, OL, and RB help.
"Teacher" I guess is gonna be the new buzz word everyone wants to use for what the next coach should be...funny because a coach should be all those things, motivator, and a teacher...not necessarily the rah rah guy but still

all i want is for someone to come in and develop guys...play young guys and at least see what you have in them
I think baalke should have said "reload" then made the sound of cocking a shotgun.

Yeah, it's going to really come down to the offensive system...WCO? Spread? Who knows...but that will certainly dictate what types of players Baalke targets this off season and in the draft. We might see some very different kinds of players coming in.

Agreed.Offensive and defensive scheme will play a big role in what they decide in player personnel matters.

It would be great to see Gore come back for one more season and have a big year. I think he needs one more 1,000 year season and Pro-Bowl berth to get into the Hall.
Thanks DeUh!

My immediate list of absolute keepers in bold Gives an idea of just how banged up the team was!

QB: Colin Kaepernick, Blaine Gabbert, Josh Johnson
RB: Frank Gore, Carlos Hyde, Alfonso Smith, Phillip Tanner
FB: Bruce Miller
WR: Anquan Boldin, Michael Crabtree, Stevie Johnson, Bruce Ellington, Quinton Patton, Brandon Llyod, Trindon Holiday
TE: Vernon Davis, Asante Cleveland
OT: Joe Staley, Anthony Davis, Jonathan Martin
OG: Mike Iupati, Joe Looney, Andrew Tiller
C: Marcus Martin, Dillon Farrell
Rationale for offensive players: Not sure who will fit a new scheme but all of the bolded should fit any scheme. Johnson could be on the list but they didn't use him very much and I wonder if it was for a reason? Vernon Davis made me sad this year and if his only problem is a back injury that will heal, then he would be on the list. Gore may decide to go elsewhere or retire...hope not.

NT: Mike Purcel
lDE: Justin Smith, Tony Jerod-Eddie, Tank Carradine, Quinton Dial
OLB: Aldon Smith, Ahmad Brooks, Aaron Lynch, Dan Skuta, Corey Lemonier, Chase Thomas
ILB: Michael Wilhoite, Nick Moody, Desmond Bishop
CB: Tramaine Brock, Chris Culliver, Perrish Cox, Dontae Johnson, Leon McFadden, Marcus Cromartie, Cameron Fuller
S: Antoine Bethea, Eric Reid, Craig Dahl, L.J. McCray
Rationale for defensive players: If the team decides to trade or release character problems Aldon Smith and Ahmad Brooks may be gone. Culliver may be allowed to leave as well. Only suprise here may be McFadden but I see him as a contributor and will compete with all the young guys next year. Would like to see Cox back but he may be expendable with all the young guys. If Donatel stays the backfield should be reasonably good again.

K: Phil Dawson (age?)
P: Andy Lee--still one of the best
LOS: Kyle Nelson--problably stays

Reserve/Injured
RB Kendall Hunter--might be really good in an uptempo passing game
FB Trey Millard--anxious to see this guy, may make Miller expendable
WR Kassim Osgood--resignable...I hope!
WR Chuck Jacobs--PS
TE Vance McDonald--believe he has shown flashes of very good play.
TE Derek Carrier--good solid backup
TE Garrett Celek--good solid backup
OT Fou Fonoti
OG Alex Boone--might be better at OT
OG Brandon Thomas--anxious to see him
C Daniel Kilgore--stabilizes the line, good pass pro
NT Glenn Dorsey--can he stay healthy?
NT Ian Williams--very solid but health?
DE Kaleb Ramsey--no idea
ILB Patrick Willis--they need to help this guy out with a NT ungrade
ILB NaVorro Bowman--perhaps the best player on the team
ILB Chris Borland--best backup MLB in the NFL?
CB Chris Cook--would like to see him stay
CB Keith Reaser--anxious to see him
CB Kenneth Acker--anxious to see him
DB Jimmie Ward--he may take a huge jump next year...hope so!
S Bubbba Ventrone--resignable...I hope!

2015 UFA
QB Blaine Gabbert--don't care
QB Josh Johnson--don't care
RB Frank Gore--I think they will resign him but who knows!? I can see him playing in any scheme and gets better in 2nd half of games.
RB Alfonso Smith--is he good enough to keep around for TC competition?
RB Phillip Tanner--don't care
WR Michael Crabtree--he needs to restart somewhere but may resign short contract to stay with CK.
WR Brandon Lloyd--not sure, but he seems a decent backup/4th receiver
WR Kassim Osgood--9ers should be able to keep him same as this year
OG Mike Iupati--nice guy, likely gone unless Singletary comes back
DE Dan Skuta--really llike this guy and hope he returns
ILB Desmond Bishop--crowded position, don't see him staying
CB Chris Culliver--he needs to go, restart somewhere...maybe Oakland?
CB Perris Cox--would like to see him stay
CB Chris Cook--I really liked this guy and hope he stays
CB Cameron Fuller--don't know
S Bubby Ventrone--same as Osgood, valuable ST guy but...
LOS Kyle Nelson--did well and I expect him to stay

A few of these guys may be signed by other teams but I don't see many who will draw much attention. Iiupati, Culliver and Crabtree are most likely gone.

Very much so. Gore will be back...in fact, I think he was quoted as saying just that yesterday!

That's why the HC will need to work really well with Baalke and I would think the interview process will bring that out...who is on the same page personnel-wise with the team? The good news is that the team has a lot of talent that would work well in any scheme. The bad news is that they may have to revamp their OL or DB depending on the new scheme.

The OL will already look different if Iupati leaves but Boone and Davis are huge questions with me in a more mobile offense. At times Boone was a statue as rushers ran by his left shoulder.

The DB has been decent to very good and Donatel gets much credit from me...and Baalke for finding FAs who fit the scheme. They have six or seven young guys to work with and I hope if they bring in a new defensive coach he can work with most of these current guys--Ward, Reid, Brock, McFadden, Johnson, Cromartie, McCray, Reaser, Acker--all 25 or younger.

Edit--OK...I said six or seven young guys and then listed niner...must be slipping!

Awesome! I'll do the same...see where we match up.

Current Offensive Personnel:
QB: Colin Kaepernick; Blaine Gabbert & Josh Johnson
Comments: CK will be back no doubt and if we go WCO, Gabbert might be a great fit there. If we go to a spread or more RO-type, Johnson may be a keeper as well. The new HC/OC will bring in their own as well

RB: Frank Gore; Carlos Hyde & Alfonso Smith, Phillip Tanner & Kendall Gaskins (Kendall Hunter)
Comments: Anytime you START with a Gore, Hyde and Hunter, you're in great shape. But we'll get another 1st round talent in round 2 or 3+.

H-Back: (Derek Carrier)
TE: Vernon Davis; Asante Cleveland & Xavier Grimble (Vance McDonald & Garrett Celek)
FB: Bruce Miller; (Trey Millard)
Comments: Power, speed, finese, experience, etc...this group has it ALL. Now effing use it!

X: Anquan Boldin; Brandon Lloyd & Bruce Ellington (Chuck Jacobs)
Y (SLOT): Stevie Johnson; Quinton Patton, Trindon Holiday & Lance Lewis
Z: Michael Crabtree; (Kassim Osgood)
Comments: Boldin, Johnson and Ellington/Patton. That's not a bad start at all and better than most teams. The offensive philosophy will dictate this pick as well but I expect it will be a very high pick.

LOT: Joe Staley (Luke Marquardt)
ROT: Anthony Davis; Jonathan Martin & Chris Martin (Fou Fonoti)
LG: Mike Iupati; Andrew Tiller (Brandon Thomas)
RG: Joe Looney; (Alex Boone)
C: Marcus Martin; Dillon Farrell (Daniel Kilgore)
Comments: Ah yes, these boys. I have no idea what offensive philosophy we'll go here but I expect quite a shake-up here either way. This will be a huge target for improvement next year, no doubt! But at least we have some C experience now, versatility and quite of few players who could play different positions...even better (i.e. Boone at LT, Staley to RT, Davis inside to G, Martin to G, etc.)

Current Defensive Personnel:
RDE: Justin Smith; Tank Carradine & *Lawrence Okoye
LDE: Tony Jerrod-Eddie (Kaleb Ramsey)
NT: Quinton Dial; Mike Purcell & Garrison Smith (Glenn Dorsey & Ian Williams)
Comments: Dial's natural position is LDE and I think he and Tank are going to tear it up there esp. with a healthy Dorsey/Williams at NT. Just watch! TJE will be back and Ramsey will add depth potentially. I expect a higher draft pick here too after Smith retires.

WILL: Aldon Smith; Dan Skuta & Corey Lemonier
SAM: Aaron Lynch; Ahmad Brooks & Chase Thomas
Comments: I'd love if Brooks restructures down big time to stay with us but he's probably out. Give me Aldon w/o RayMac for a year, Lynch and Skuta. It's possible Lemonier develops but I doubt it. Look to a pass rushing OLB in the draft.

MIKE: Nick Moody; Desmond Bishop (Patrick Willis & Chris Borland)
TED: Michael Wilhoite; Shayne Skov (Navarro Bowman)
Comments: Bowman, Willis, Borland and Wilhoite? Hellloooo!

RCB: Chris Culliver; Leon McFadden & Cameron Fuller (Keith Reaser)
LCB: Dontae Johnson; Tramaine Brock & Marcus Cromartie (Chris Cook & Kenneth Acker)
SLOT/NICKLE: Perrish Cox (Jimmie Ward)
Comments: I like every single one of these guys save for Fuller/Cromartie. An attempt should be made to sign Culliver/Cox/McFadden/Cook and Reaser and Acker are going to push the group too. Ward? Can still compete with Johnson in the slot but I already like Johnson's size there (like him there more than the outside even).

FS: Eric Reid; Craig Dahl (Bubba Ventrone)
SS: Antoine Bethea; L.J. McCray
Comments: Ventrone is most likely gone and we'll see more Ward at FS this year. I'm a fan of McCray...can't wait to see if he's developed even more! Dahl is gone for sure...salary cap.

Current Special Teams:
LS: Kyle Nelson
PK: Phil Dawson
P: Andy Lee
PR/KOR: Bruce Ellington, Trindon Holiday, Perrish Cox & Carlos Hyde
Comments: We're good here but it can't hurt to target a top-notch CB, WR or S who can be a dynamic returner as well. But this is a good starting group.

2015 UFA:
QB Blaine Gabbert
QB Josh Johnson
RB Frank Gore
RB Alfonso Smith
RB Phillip Tanner
WR Michael Crabtree
WR Brandon Lloyd
WR Kassim Osgood
OG Mike Iupati
DE Dan Skuta
ILB Desmond Bishop
CB Chris Culliver
CB Perris Cox
CB Chris Cook
CB Cameron Fuller
S Bubby Ventrone
LOS Kyle Nelson
Comments: Both Gabbert & Johnson could be veteran keepers depending on the offense we employ. Gore said he'd be back and we should take another look at Alfonso Smith. Crabtree, Lloyd, Iupati are on their own. Osgood & Ventrone? They have a home here but this may be the end of the road. Dan Skuta should be a reasonable re-sign as well. I like Culliver, Cox & Cook as well as McFadden. All should try and be resigned. Kyle Nelson is a must-sign but then again, maybe not.

2015 RFA:
TE Garrett Celek
Comments: If we go WCO, he might be a really good fit here now.

2015 ERFA:
DE Tony Jerod-Eddie
ILB Michael Wilhoite
Comments: Neither are going anywhere!
Great NC! Love your comments! Especially about the TE/HB talent!
Can't wait until we get the new HC/OC in here and hear about what kind of system they run...research, etc. Should be fun starting there and targeting draft picks, FA, resigns, restructures, etc. and above all, setting up realistic expectations!

doesnt matter we are going 0-16 without Harbs, you are going to wish we had him back so we could win 2nd place every year forever

I miss 2011-2013 already, those were the days, 2nd place never felt so good

Bad Acid is goin' around.
Hard to believe all the pessimism on the future. We're always going to have draft picks as long as Baalke is around. This year alone, losing high profile FA our compensatory will be helpful to add depth. We don't even know what we have in some our youth on offense. Roman did nothing these kids.
