What did you do with A. Davis if Boone and Staley are the Tackles? I don't see why you would move Staley? He has been consistently our best lineman, so why move him to Right Tackle?

I thin J. Smith plays one more year and he is still playing at a top level.

Also, Kilgore coming back and Martin moving over to the vacated Guard spot with Thomas as a back up can be a solid OL with plenty of athleticism.

I think the depth that has been accumulated will show how flexible the Front Office can be during the draft and FA. Because of that I agree with you that the window isn't closed for the next few years. I can't wait for a season where on game days its not the Harbaughs last season speculation game by the media. That circus took its toll on this season and the fall out is being witnessed.

Next year, I'd like to see some serious speed on the outside of the offense, speed that is so imposing that defenses simply have to account for it. And if this or any other coaching staff is really serious about making Kaepernick a pocket passer, it would be nice if the offensive line could work on, you know, actually providing a pocket.

Definitely agree! Our offense hasn't been the same since the departure of Randy Moss. We need a guy who can put the fear of god into opposing DBs. Team speed is a must.

It depends on what direction the new HC/OC wants to go. Davis hasn't been healthy all year, is still way out of shape and continues to struggle against speed rushers. Typically as LT's get older (this was Staley's worst year yet), it's easier to move them over to RT to face the 2nd best pass rushers. Boone is young and he's always wanted to play T and LT is his natural spot. I'd expect some tweaks like this for next year. And I agree, you've got some young guards including potentially moving Davis inside to pull and block out which may play better to his strengths. But you have a potential interior already Thomas, Martin, Davis/Boone, Dillion/Kilgore, etc. Will the new HC/OC go power or zone blocking or both?

I absolutely your last paragraph!

Good points. I can see the line shifting around like you mention. This could be just an off year for Staley and I hope so.

Should be an interesting offseason
If we beat Seattle on Sunday....everyone is going to be so unbelievably confused.

For sure. But either way, the point is, there is already some talent on offense...just need a few more personnel pieces, a new offensive system and better chess playing OC and all we have to be is average...average....24 points a game and we'll be a 2-4 loss team with our defense and ST's.

After this year's performance, I can see the 49ers essentially being in the catbird's seat in terms of all their free-agents. There won't be as high of a demand for Iupati and Crabtree. That being said, the team has a lot of young talent that has been severly underdeveloped IMHO. This is why when Harbaugh leaves, this will be the most attractive coaching opportunities in the league. You have a set roster full of great talent, a top 5 defense already with TWO great pass-rushers; it's a fast way for any smart coach to make a name for himself in the NFL. You're not coming to a team that needs to start over. I think there will be a ton of competition for the 49ers HC - most importantly, I think they team retains Fangio as HC and his defensive staff while Fangio will work to find a great offensive mind who can run his offense.

Who are these 2 great pass rushers you speak of? I only see one great pass rusher in Aldon Smith. Everyone else is good to average.

If Harbs leaving is a foregone conclusion this scenario you propose with Fangio becoming HC would be fantastic IMO.
Getting rid if Harbaugh is a mistake IMO. It's been one bad season. Let's throw away what we have over one bad season.

I think it is too but we are put in a position where we have no choice because if he sticks around for another year without an extension we are gonna deal with this distraction all over again about the conflicts between Harbaugh and management and Harbaugh jumping ship at seasons end. Who wants to work in an environment like that let alone be successful with constant turmoil being reported?

Aaron Lynch is a 6th round, somewhat undersized rook and has been awesome since getting on the field this year. Lynch is good and will be even better (great) next season with this defensive coaching staff developing them.

There are plenty of players who were good and looked promising then regressed entirely for example Kevan Barlow. Aaron Lynch is a very good player but I wouldn't label him great just yet.

Then give him an extension. We are the 4th best record in football under him. WAKE UP JED.
Don't get me wrong this offense is on harbs/roman. But I think with a new OC we can turn it around.

it seems beyond repair though.

I am excited for next season but still have faith for this year!
