I sent an email to NFL about Boger asking for him to be fired or suspended. I suggest you all do the same. Time after time this guy has blown game changing calls even after review. Unacceptable.

Rule 8, Section 1, Article 3, Item 1 of the NFL Rule Book (page 51) states that "if a player goes to the ground in the act of catching a pass (with or without contact with an opponent), he must maintain control of the ball after he touches the ground, whether in the field of play or the end zone. If he loses control of the ball, and the ball touches the ground before he regains control, the pass is incomplete. If he regains control prior to the ball touching the ground, the pass is complete."

The quote above in the NFL's rule for completing the process of the catch.

See right before Crabtree rolls over the ball moves in his hands, that's why it wasn't ruled a TD (this is the second time I've seen a Jerome Booger line judge get a call on the goal line 100% wrong). If anything, this should have been ruled an incomplete pass, not sure how the LJ right there screwed it up that badly.

Exactly, he never lost possession even for a second so shouldn't he be ruled forward progress...which would be a TD?

If he stays in the end zone, yes. The problem is that he didn't complete the process of the catch (you have no idea how much I hate that term) until his body (and more importantly, the ball) was outside of the end zone. He didn't gain possession of the ball fully until he was outside of the end zone (he doesn't fully gain possession until the ball bounces on the when he's rolling over, which is why I think it should have been incomplete).

Crabtree runs this route one to two yards deeper into the endzone and we're not having this conversation (or Colin throws a better pass).
We scored 10 points on offense...we deserved to lose. What an embarrassment of a game that killed the season.

yep. we definitely deserved that loss.
If we haven't learned by now that only bad things happen when you go to Crabtree at the end of the game we'll never learn. Not necessarily blaming Crabs that play obviously wasn't his fault but him Kap just can't get it together. It's same the result every time they try to hook up on the final drive.

Look elsewhere.

No, because forward progress isn't in effect on this play.

A catch in a situation where the receiver goes to the ground isn't complete until he goes through the full process. The spot is based on where he is when the process is completed, not where the catch is started

we deserved to lose even before leaving it to the last drive. thats why i cant say we robbed. our qb couldnt catch a shotgun snap on 3rd down. this isnt about the refs.

I get that and if he didn't complete "the process" of the catch then he should have been market much closer to the goal line....

Yes, the Niners played horribly. The offensive line was horrible. The play calling was horrible. Kaepernick made some mistakes and was fooled a number of times by Rams defensive shifts. But the fact still remains that Kaepernick threw the game winning TD pass in the final 30 seconds. As the photo below shows, he secured the ball over the plane of the end zone (it was ruled a catch) and his knees are down in the end zone. If Peyton Manning throws the same pass 100 times, it's called a TD 100 times.

payback for the Hyde no-fumble.

The spot should have been where he went first went out of bounds since he wasn't touched by a defensive player.

This is the second time that we've ran this play in a goal line situation and it's the second time that Booger's crew screwed it up
This thread is pointless. We lost, nothing can be done. Better to discuss our pathetic red zone offense. We are simply horrible in the red zone. Even with this missed TD we had 2 more downs to score which of course we can't do from the 2 yard line. Roman needs to go ASAP!
