Denise DeBartolo York making the call to Cable is a fascinating development – and could be viewed as an undermining of York, who painted himself as a the team's lead decision maker during his press conference after firing Kelly and Baalke. The above was from the USA Today regarding the Tom Cable interview. It seems clear that when things got serious in the hiring process that Denise got involved. I'm still trying to find the article that linked Denise to the Shannahan hiring, but I know it was either directly stated or inferred by a beat writer.
"I own this football team," York said on Jan. 2. "You don't dismiss owners. I'm sorry that that's the facts and that's the case, but that's the fact. And, I'm going to do everything that I can to get this right."

Jed deserves respect. I said it when he hired/fired Harbaugh. I'll say it again with Shanny and Lynch. He had a plan in place when all of you doubted him.
Please stop with the same ol' comments "Yea Jed, just stay out of the way and we're good"
When was he ever in the way? I DEMAND RESPECT FOR JED.
I can't tell if you are serious or sarcastic.
No, I'm being serious. Not a Jed fan boy it just bugs me honestly. I've supported him since his parents handed the franchise over to him right before he made Singletary an official hire. I love this team and the ownership. It just makes me sick reading all the negativity towards our ownership specifically Jed when none of what gets reported is true.
What happened to all of the Fire Jed blimps or Sell the team banners flying over Levis? Everyones quiet now huh
You sure sounds like a Jed fan boy

The less I hear about Jed York the better.
Seeing this thread bump up makes me nervous.

Jed brought in both Harbs and Kyle. And its understandable why he sided with Baalke. Nobody can deny Jed loves this team. Dude deserves credit for fixing this s**t.

My understanding is Denise basically said "Interview who you want, but we are hiring Kyle". Having said that and in light of his obvious prowess in offensive play calling I'd hope that Kyle is going to be allowed to stay here as long as he wants. I personally am hoping for a BB in NE type scenario where Kyle is just accepted as a genius on that side of the ball, and has a loooong list of 49ers accomplishments over the years as proof.

Finally found it! It was Gary Plummer who sited inside information:
"I'm going to drop a little bombshell on you right here," Plummer said. "I've heard that this hire was not the hire of Jed York. I heard that it came from a much higher source than Jed York and you might think to yourself, 'Woah, what's higher than Jed York?' How about Jed York's mother (Denise DeBartolo York)?
"I'm just telling you that's what I've heard and sources have said she has been embarrassed. Now, remember, this is a woman who grew up with her father (Edward J. DeBartolo, Sr.) owning the Pittsburgh Penguins and I think she loved hockey and she was involved in – I think they might have even won the Stanley Cup when they were there in terms of ownership. But seeing that and seeing her brother (Edward J. DeBartolo, Jr.) win championship after championship after championship, winning is in her blood."
It's not inconceivable to believe that Denise DeBartolo York, who is the principal owner of the 49ers, was in some way involved in the final decision to hire Lynch and Shanahan. What Plummer appears to be suggesting, according to what he has heard, is that Jed didn't have the final say.

And he thought Jim Tomsula was a good head coach. I remember Jed comparing Tomsula to Steve Kerr in an interview (lol).
Chip Kelly was a good hire....in theory......if you gave him the players to run his offense. But even if Chip had great players at every position, I still think his ceiling in the NFL would be limited. His college offense was played out and the NFL figured him out already. Jed York and Baalke didn't do enough research as to why Chip flamed out in Philly. And now you can see that even UCLA is getting tired of Chip Kelly's shtick. He will probably get fired soon.
I will give credit where credit is due. Jed scored a home run with Lynch and Shanahan. But it has taken 3-4 years of misery to get to this point.
Much as it did with Eddie D.
Eddie D never hired a Tomsula or Kelly.

Then brought in a cohesive group of high football IQ minds led by the best offensive minded head coach in the game, and did the prudent thing when he got the f*** out of their way so they could do their thing. I am not sure the 49ers have been this organizationally on the same page since 90s or 80s. We are lucky as f*** that Shanahan even considered coming here and credit to York for locking him in for six years. More credit to York if can keep Shanahan and company for one or more contracts in the future. We have something special going on.
Lynch's slumber party at Jed's house was a good idea. Showed Jed that he meant business.

I think it was these words and phrases that caused many of us to wonder if this post was serious or sarcastic. It was either sarcastic humor or very French-Laundryish.

You can't disrespect your boss in front of the entire organization and expect to retain your job. That won't work anywhere, no matter how successful you are. Harbaugh burns everyone out wherever he goes. While York would probably admit his faith and trust in Baalke was his downfall, I still don't understand why Harbaugh is absolved of any responsibility for the downfall of the Niners.
Thank you! People freakin worship Harbaugh here and don't understand he treated these grown men like College kids.
Harbaugh was a stain on this franchise. Never forget we lost our one and only superbowl because he fell in love with Kap. All we had to do is freakin run in it with Gore.
I will never forgive Harbaugh or Greg Roman for our superbowl loss.
I see others are chiming in and talking about Denise bringing in Kyle! Lmao what the hell does she know -- stop trying to discredit Jed it is getting ridiculous guys. Jed had a relationship with Mike and Kyle before all of this. I know it's hard for some to accept but we have A GREAT OWNER WHO JUST WANTS TO WIN.
Denise York has been a successful professional owner prior to the 49ers
Jed's only qualification is that his uncle and mother were successful sports owners.
