Yeah, there aren't that many of them in today's game or in the history of the game.

Hopefully, you know who that is.
Read this thread and if the team isn't on Alex's back, tell me how it isn't?

It's funny you said "We never went 0-4 with Alex Smith" in a post last week. No comment.

He played a good game while Frank Gore and Hunter dominated and led this team to victory.
you do realize the reason gore and hunter tore it up in the ground game is because the bucs had to respect Smith and his receivers.... it was basically pick your poison for them... if you watch the video they obviously chose to cover the air then the ground game... and from a coaches point of view shutting down the

IMO:
A QB who will keep his poise when the odds are stacked against him, in other words comes back from adversity.
Reads a defense well, identifies the weakness of the defense and exploits it.
Makes the tough throw under pressure, doesn't get rattled when the heat (pass rush, blitz) is turned up.
Shaj said something to that effect in the official beat the dead horse thread. But doesn't your description fit what Smith did in the Eagles game?

You just can't get over your bias against Smith can you? If you think yards and attempts are more important than not turning it over and scoring tds, you should change your handle.

Show me the post where I said we never went 0-4. Aldon Smith deserves more credit? Um you lost me there. It's funny how you rarely respond to anything I've said. Alex has more to do with our 4-1 record than anyone on our team so far. We should be 5-0 cuz we had the lead vs the Cowboys, or do you not know that? We won the Philly game largely due to his play in the 2nd half. We killed the Bucs because he was able to throw early and often making big plays through the air, which set up the run for the rest of the game. The defense can make all the stops they want but if Alex doesn't carry his side of the team, it's pointless.

He's getting you confused with Jiks, who made an error in another post. Seems bent on using this error to tar and feather any Smith defender?

Smith only completed 11 passes in the game. The avg qb completes that many in one half. However, he looked much better then he has in the past and it gave me hope that he will continue to get better. I think it's ridiculous to say he played a bigger part in that win then Gore/Hunter. 11 passes completed for 170 yards won't cause many teams to fear your passing game. The Niners top 10 defense held the Bucs to 3 points. Gore and Hunter were chewing up yards all day. It was a team win and Alex played his role well.

Bias? Smith has been one of the worst qbs in the league for several years(fact). It was only a few weeks ago that Harbaugh didn't trust this offense with a 1st down at the Dallas 20 late in a close game.. So far Smith has maintained a high completion % (which helps his overall qb rating) by throwing almost exclusively short passes within 4 yards of the LOS no matter the situation (3rd and long etc). In one game this season his avg yards gained on passes was something like 2 yards. It was a joke. Defenses were crowding the LOS because they didn't fear our passing game. Why should they when our qb rarely throws for even 200 yards. But that's the offense you run when you don't trust the qb. It's why the Niners passing offense ranks so low in yards and completions.
The Bucs game gave me HOPE that Alex is getting better and that Harbaugh will trust him to look downfield more often. Even in that game though the Bucs dropped what should have been two interceptions (one of them likely would have been a pick 6). So I laugh when people start saying he has "arrived" or is finally the qb we thought he was when drafted #1 overall. He still has a long way to go. The past two games we have seen improved play from Alex but we have also seen equally (if not more impressive) play from the running game.
My hope is that Alex continues to get better because if that happens this team could do much better then simply win the awful NFC West.

You don't get what he's trying to say. He's saying without the early passing we did, the run game wouldn't have been as effective. I believe Smith had close to 100 yards passing in the 1st qtr alone, we didn't need to pass after he took us down the field for a TD during the opening drive in the 2nd half to put us up 30 - 3. With well over a qtr and a half left to play and the score the way it was, there was no reason to even throw the ball. If they did it was to get more practice in on stuff they needed to improve on. The run game dominated only because we set it up to. Comprende?
