I worry that the time difference will prevent that punch from the beginning though. Didn't we start off slow against cinci? I really want to give them their first loss though
To be fair everyone starts out slow against Cin. I think they are the number one rated defense in the NFL.
Yep....http://www.nfl.com/stats/team
I guess you can't really dog Lawson or Clements too much....
With that said, I dont get the whole YPG deal? You dont win games by racking up yards, it's all about points.

This, cuz we keep deferring.
Getting the ball back after halftime is always smart.
This and the defense is the strength of the team.
Truth.

What time difference? the 49ers got into detroit last night, they have a full day to recover from jet lag, and they have a 1:00pm game. i dont think the timezone difference will be an issue at all.
Also, i liked the mixture of singletary and "drowsy dentist kid" quotes. lol
This is the 2nd comment I have heard about someone alluding to the fact that the 49er game starts at 1pm. This game is in Detroit which means its an east coast game and east coast games get 10am start times. Am I missing something here? The 49er game will air at 10am PST?
Yes, the game will be on at 10AM PST.

I said 1pm because it will be 1pm for the team (they are on the east coast) They dont have to wake up at 7am to be at the field at 8am
It will air on tv at 10am PST. (1pm for them though)

Best is going to get destroyed!! He's not even going to want to make it to the second level cuz Willis and bowman will rip his head off.

We should run a lot of 4-1-6 tomorrow. Not worried about their running game one bit. But throw a Brooks/McDonald/J. Smith/A. Smith d-line at Stafford with Willis behind them and then Rogers/Brown/Spencer/Culliver/Goldson/R. Smith in the secondary, that'd be pretty damn hard to pass on. You could literally triple team Johnson with 2 corners (Culliver and Spencer) and then Goldson. Rogers can cover Burleson in space and Brown can cover Young in space. Reggie can play centerfield. Willis can cover Pettigrew. Their back would likely have to stay in and block vs. our savage d-line.

How can you leave Best AND pettigrew to one linebacker? Willis is good but come on.

Just Pettigrew...I said, their back would likely have to stay in to block...no way their o-line can handle our d-line. But even if he doesn't, then fine, Reggie Smith could pick him up on occasion. I just think the more DB's the better.

I agree that we should have more corners then normal but you can't take Bowman off the field. He is too good.... plus that leaves one less possible blitzer unless you like blitzing CBs which I am not a huge fan of. I would say 4-2-5 (nickel). Bowman and Willis are good in coverage for Lbs but obviously won't be as good as corners but don't think you can take them off the field. We will probably switch it up. Probably some base as well... especially when they have 2 WR sets... then 4 CBs should be enough (base 3-4) if you double cover CJ. Maybe 5 dbs when they go to 3 wr sets.... You could be right though... on a few occasions we could take Bowman out if we want a DB covering Pettigrew. Scheffler is out so shouldn't be much threat for 2 TE's (besides blocking) along with the WRs. Could lead 2 a dime defense (6db's) but I doubt we stay in that all game long. Edit: Teams will find a way to beat these defenses if you don't change it up. Mike gave a good example.... DL gets caught up, 1 LB misses, DBs getting blocked off or get caught thinking pass and then one big play and the game changes.
P.S. If anyone wants to know the names of all the different defensive alignments here they are:
Five defensive linemen, two linebackers and four defensive backs (the 5-2 formation)
Five defensive linemen, three linebackers and three defensive backs (the 5-3 formation)
Four defensive linemen, three linebackers and four defensive backs (the 4-3 formation)
Four defensive linemen, four linebackers and three defensive backs (the 4-4 formation)
Three defensive linemen, four linebackers and four defensive backs (the 3-4 formation)
Three defensive linemen, three linebackers and five defensive backs (the 3-3-5 formation)
Four defensive linemen, two linebackers and five defensive backs (the Nickel formation)
Four defensive linemen, one linebacker and six defensive backs.(the Dime formation)
Three defensive linemen, one linebacker and seven defensive backs (the Quarter formation)
Three defensive linemen, no linebackers and eight defensive backs (the Half Dollar formation)
