If there is only 1 linebacker(willis) Idc how strong the d-line rush is they'll just hand it to best and then all it takes is one of our d-lineman to get tied up/taken out and he'll break away for 90 yds. Do you really suggest stopping a runningback by relying on a safety to pick him up going full speed? Lol...

Go Niners!
I wish this game would just start already!
I'm becoming more and more and more confident as the days and hours pass by.

This ain't gonna be low scoring.
This ain't gonna be close.
For the Lions. this IS gonna be embarrassing.

90 yard runs are actually LESS likely with a ton of DB's in. 10, 15, 20 yard runs are more likely with fewer guys up front, but 50, 60, 70 yard runs are less likely because of all the speed you have on the back end. That's why even though often times you'll see 8 and 9 guys in the box to try and stuff the run, you actually expose yourself more to the long run. Yes, you have a better chance of stuffing it, but if the back does manage to get past that 2nd level, he's gone. Case in point- Gore vs. Seattle at home in '09.

Besides, our run D is way better than Chicago's and that game was an aberration. Before that Monday Nighter, he had only had 2 career carries over 20 yards and no career games with so much as 80 yards....But certainly on 3rd and long, I'd love to see us bust out the 4-1-6.

Kick off to the Lions.

This, cuz we keep deferring.

Getting the ball back after halftime is always smart.

This and the defense is the strength of the team.

Truth.
defer, and successfully execute a surprise onside kick

Yeah, I mentioned we could use it but you can't count on 1 defense the whole game. Teams will figure out a way to exploit it. If you look at that play like I said all it takes is for the DL to get caught up, the LB to miss play it and watch some of those DBs think pass and backpedal. When they back pedal they are at a disadvantage and they are already to late to fill or tackle. Even if they read it right it's hard to get off a block because think of the disadvantage for a Cb. Tough to get off blocks especially if they are playing guys like Calvin bump and run. If I am a DB, I go to jam him thinking it is a pass and then just like that he is engaged and by the time I fight off the block it's too late.

P.S. I know you didn't say use it the whole game but just think of a team that did. Not many teams can run on us but think of giving up 10-20 a pop because we don't want Calvin to beat us. Won't take long for that to get old.

To think I wanted this guy on my team.... hmmmmfff.

Lions running back Jahvid Best grew up in Richmond, California. But he wasn't a fan of the nearby 49ers. Best rooted for the Raiders. He didn't like the Niners. So he's looking forward to Sunday's visit from the local team he loathed. "I grew up a Raider fan, so definitely my eyes are set on San Francisco this week because it's a team I grew up hating,"

What time difference? the 49ers got into detroit last night, they have a full day to recover from jet lag, and they have a 1:00pm game. i dont think the timezone difference will be an issue at all.

Also, i liked the mixture of singletary and "drowsy dentist kid" quotes. lol

This is the 2nd comment I have heard about someone alluding to the fact that the 49er game starts at 1pm. This game is in Detroit which means its an east coast game and east coast games get 10am start times. Am I missing something here? The 49er game will air at 10am PST?

Yes, the game will be on at 10AM PST.

not worried about the time, we won back to back EST games in a row
We need to stop the big plays. I think we're good with Whitner and Goldson in the backfield. It's Reggie and Madieu that concern me. Hopefully they've been brushing up on their geometry.

Reggie isn't that bad, but Madieu is awful..
Hey , i got no problem with deferring with the team we put on the field. It is our strength. Besides when our D is on the field, Suh isn't . After getting the ball back, hopefully with no pts scored, i would look for a 1 stepper to vernon playing slot receiver, and then let them try to tackle him. As an aside, Soap has been out and our DL looked just as good. I wonder if JH is going to use some kind of package DL like we do with the 3 TEs on O. Now THAT would be interesting. Soap, Big Mac, Justin, and Aldon, with Bowman or Carlos blitzing. It'd sure be a neat look.

"That puts them in situations that they don't want to be in."

Suh talking some s**t...

sounds like overconfidence to me
If there is one thing that I'm learning, it's you dont want to talk trash before a game with Harbaugh. He doesn't forget and will embarrass you.

"West Coast Killers".....hahaha.
fake punt, touchdown
49ers have been great controlling field position and have made very few mistakes. Great combination for winning, no reason to think they won't continue this weekend. But on any given Sunday! Anticipation!
