But they only have a franchise qb until either Willis or Smith put him down for the count.

I approve of this message

Rams will be our toughest competition. Seahawks took a step back, Cards improved, only because their QB situation was so bad last year. Kolb doesn't scare me. He doesn't have Reid anymore, and he has less starts than Bradford.

Kolb has done nothing in the NFL as of yet, he is another guy that gets hype for unknown reasons.

Because he is a QB who was considered a worthy starter by a proven QB guru and is going to a team with one of the elite offensive playmakers in the entire NFL

If he is so good, why did they get rid of him? I think AZ got exactly what his stats say he is...

Because Michael Vick is better and they got nice trade value out of him. It would have been a waste for him to sit on the bench in philly. I am not saying I think he is going to be great but people in the know seem to think he will be.

1- He lost his job when he suffered a concussion, Vick came in and ended up being the runner up for the league MVP.

2- He was scheduled to be a FA after this year and was on the books for 12+ million.

Right, pretty much what I said.
I say it's the Cards. Folks seem to be forgetting a guy named Larry Fitzgerald. He will make Kolb look 10x better than he really is. The guy had 90 catches with Skelton, Hall, and Derek Anderson throwing him the ball.

Franchise QB with a new o-coord and system to learn. And in my opinion, McDaniels is largely unproven now that he's not working with Bill B. anymore.

I wouldn't discount McDaniels. There is no question he is a horrible, HORRIBLE, head coach. But living in denver and watching the broncos, he is a legit OC.

Consider this... he idiotically got rid of Brandon Marshall, Cutler, the starting TE and Peyton Hillis. With Brandon Lloyd and Kyle Orton he was able to make the Broncos the #1 passing offense in the league for the first 10 weeks of 2010 with no running game to speak of (2.5 yards per carry), averaging over 300 passing yards a game with a QB rating of 96. After the loss to the Rams, players gave up, his head coaching ego turned off both the team and fans, Tebow chants were a routine basis every week and Orton broke his hand yet still tried to play two more games before giving way to Tebow.

McDaniels has no place in any type of personnel or head coaching decision, but the guy is a very good OC.

Still not a believer. I watched a fair bit of Broncos games and while they definitely started hot, they fizzled down the stretch. Outside of that, his only coaching creds
lay in NE with a cast of players that anyone would have done well with. I'm not writing him off entirely, just saying that I don't believe the genius OC label some have slapped on him.

But we'll find out soon enough.

Understandable, but his work with Cassel in NE is what put him on the radar of top OC's and why he got the job in Denver. Took Cassel two years to regain the same form he had in NE under other OC Guru's such as Weis and Haley. He also made Orton look elite at times, where in Chicago he was nothing more than a game manager who got replaced by Grossman.

Who nearly took his team from last to first....not to mention a rookie of the year award.
Lets break it down..

49ers - has the most talent in the NFC West. The Oline has gotten better and will benefit with another year together, and if Gore can stay healthy the niners will have the #1 rush attack in the division. Very stout vs the run , but can the pass offense and secondary take it to another level? The team will be better under Harbaugh. Prediction 9-7 / div 4-2

Cardinals - Improved GREATLY at the QB position comparing to their 10td 19int performance last season. Kolb is an upgrade but he is NOT Kurt Warner. The Cardinals will be much tougher but I still question their defense and I think the Kolb era will take time. Prediction 8-8 / div 3-3

Rams - Bradford will be better in his second year, if anything will probably throw for more touchdowns. Only helps when you add more weapons through the draft and you have Donnie Avery and Mark Clayton coming back from injury. They played most the season tough and have an underrated defense. Prediction 7-9 / div 3-3

Seahawks - New offensive coordinator, new QB, new wideout, but I dont think they improve in the w/l column. They have upgraded the roster but so has the rest of the nfc west. Prediction 6-10 / div 2-4

1-Cards
2-Rams
3-Seahawks
4-49ers

Not a bad prediction, but I'll have to disagree with you on Cards finishing 1st. Here's my lay out:

1- Rams: They have a QB in Bradford who had no OL and no WRs and yet breaks out and takes the worst team in the NFL to one game away from the playoffs. Now, he has a GOOD OL with the acquisitions of Dahl and Bell, and a much better line up with their WRs with Pettis and Sims-Walker.

Also, Spagnolo has been molding this defense and got depth in the DL. Not to mention, thought Jackson was getting killer yards with a bad OL, just wait....Only way they lose if that they have no secondary (not a big fan of Mikell)

2- Seahawks: They have prolly the best defense in the division (not saying much) and their offense has improved drastically with the addition of Tom Cable. Lynch and Forsett will be much better with a more organized OL. Not to mention, Rice and Jackson will be connecting early and fast. Also, will have a killer TE tandem of Miller/Carlson, so can definitely help Tavaris' transition.

Only reason why they lose out to Rams is b/c of Gallery and Jackson. Gallery holds waaaaaaaaaaaaay too much and Jackson is nowhere near Bradford's level. If they had a hardcore defense and run game, then they could get away with Jackson, but not @ that level.

3- Arizona: See them finishing only 1 game ahead of the Niners. Yes, they have Kolb, but what else do they have? They don't have an OL (adding Colledge doesn't make them good), their running game is suspect (Beanie is the newest "Mr. Glass" and they are relying too much on Williams to carry their run game), and who the hell do they have on defense?

They have good WRs and Kolb, but they will get scored upon and Kolb will have growing pains outside of Philly, who had a good OL and a run-game. Kolb will have killer stats, but not enough to win.

4- Niners: Look, we have a new coach, new system, and same crappy QB in Smith. Everyone else has consistency and solid QB play. Also, have a brand new defense to learn with younger guys getting their first starts. Will start off rough, but see us getting much better near the end of the season. I feel bad for Justin Smith/Willis/Gore/VD who will be basically be giving up a year to "rebuild".

On a side note, with the signing of Goodwin, our OL will be together for the next 3 years and can/will become a force for years to come. Will allow any QB to have time and all RBs some holes to run. Also, RJF and Ray McDonald look like they will be great 3-4 DEs for the future and if Aldon Smith plays like he's practicing, he might be another DROY canidate ***Wishful Thinking***

And to all the haters, look, I hope I'm wrong. Last year, I had the 49ers 1st, then Cards, Hawks, and Rams. Maybe we pick up the new systems fast and Harbaugh brings some of that "Orange Bowl" magic, but on paper, this is how it'll work out. It's okay, our high pick will make us better and hopefully the winning streak near the end of the season and new stadium will make us more attractive to good FAs.

as far as i can tell, their defense hasnt improved...their passing game will be solid, but no running game

if im forgetting a defensive signing that im forgetting lemme know (and dont say patrick peterson, a rookie cb isnt going to carry a defense, even if he is outstanding)

thank you
49ers in last. Rams in first. But even so, I feel better about the next few years than I did a few years ago.
