He was disciplined enough to play in the system. Give the guy some credit!

no. first, i find the prospect of Moss being #1 highly dubious. He'll start, but, like I said, we rotate guys in and out, and Moss, especially at 35, will have a specific role. he certainly won't be a true #1. Morgan would have had a different role. They would all have packages they'd be a part of.

We're saying the same thing:

Moss will be a part-time Flanker -- other guys on the roster will split time with him
Crabtree will pretty much be a full-time split end...could slide to Flanker in a 1 WR formation

An attractive scenario is if we draft WR Stephen Hill -- he splits time with Moss at FL and takes over in 2013. We then have a burner at FL and a possession WR at SE (like you should).

i don't mind guys trying to cash in necessarily, but I just find it hard to believe that we didn't offer him a fair enough contract that, coupled with a chance at a championship, would have been an overall better deal. If we totally lowballed him then more power to him, but I find it hard to believe that we offered a "disrespectful" contract or anything.

This.
carlos will be giving away all of our defensive/offensive 49er codes to the Rams

Everybody wants him back. He's a sure thing for us. We've seen him have success in our system.

But who's to say another mid-level FA CB (like Rogers was) can't do the same?

This. The NFL never ceases to amaze me. An otherwise underachieving player for his entire career moves to a team and a system that allows him to play the best football he ever has as a pro and now he looks to cash in? After one year?

He never underachieved in Washington. He was always a solid cover guy there, he just never had a bunch of interceptions like he did with us.

yup.

Nope....He wasn't an "underachiever" in Washington. He just didn't get picks because of stone hands. Most people thought he was a very good cover man.

Moss doesn't block. he's not going to be a full-time starter.

we may have a secret decoder ring but I am pretty sure that no matter what rogers reveals to them, they can not stop the smith boys and they can not match up with our linebackers

you don't *have* to block at FL
Then we draft a CB with our 1st rounder

But I am kind of thinking Carlos is going to take the big bag of cash and run
