I think the only way this happens is if Jed hires Bilick. Mike was on his staff in Baltimore so there is a chace he would be retained. I like what Mike has done, but I think we just need a whole new philosophy.

Mike Johnson? are you guys insane? Raise your standards.

Of course last night he was going up against Ron Rivera, one of the top DCs in the game but MJ took a BIG step back last night. He looked like the very inexperienced OC that he is.

OTOH, the SD defense is VERY good and the 49er offense is very limited. Now if the 49ers could get #83 to play for them...

Just like Singletary, this guy is not qualified to be an NFL OC. The Niners should not be a "learn on the job" opportunity for coordinators any more than it should be for head coaches. That's a big part of how we've gotten to where we are as a franchise. Having an under-qualified head coach does at least two things to a team. (1) it ensures losses and chaos for the team as the coach tries to figure out what to do and how. (2) it ensures top talent will not stay while all the learning (in best case) and chaos goes on in the organization.

Mike Johnson is just a younger, inexperienced version of Jimmy Raye. The biggest difference between the two? Jimmy thought he knew everything. Mike knows he doesn't know anything.
