No, I want the new head coach to name his own staff.

...but would you be OK if he named MJ based on what you have seen to date?

I would not be apposed to that.

The thing that I find particularly intriguing about Johnson was that he took a year off from coaching and spent the entire time looking at college teams that are successful with spread offenses. Since the pros all tend to be such copy cats, there is really much innovation. The colleges, by contrast, tend to use a TON of gimmicks, tricks and systems to try to fool their opponents. So while most of them are not applicable to the pros, some are. Johnson noted as much in an earlier interview. The impressive part was that he found some relatively obscure colleges that ran some very good stuff that he felt would work in the pros.

That kind of effort to improve himself and the product he could potentially deliver to a team is impressive to me. I like that in a coach. He is almost the exact opposite of Singletary in that regard. I believe that would at least get him an interview with a new HC.
Probably a good QB coach. He got promoted too early to be an OC.

No
I think if someone like John Gruden, a WCO minded Coach, would might be willing to keep some of the coaches around including Mike Johnson who has a background in the WCO.
He's passing the tea so far and has adapted to two QBs already. When the QB doesn't drop off by much is when you have a good coach.
i think we should try and retain him especially if we resign alex....i also believe that if we make a coaching change and go with someone like gruden then he'd keep smith, but i doubt he'll keep johnson.

Good point. He went from Troy to Alex and showed a much more complex, more complete offense with the best rating of Alex' career. That speaks to your criteria.
Only if our new HOFO, and by extension HC, want him. He seems reasonable, has a good resume, but only the HC or hofo should hire him. None of this , "well he won the last 3 games of the season for us".
One week at the time with the 49ers.

Well if Sing is gone, then the next HC will want to run their own Off. and bring in their own OC. Unless of course we hire another defensive HC.

Please god no.

Agreed. I'm not too high on Johnson because outside of scripting the first series of the game, he has shown to be only average.

I think it's a failure on his part due insufficient preparation and insight. He hasn't shown that he can effectively counter-act the opposing gameplan after the first half and at times, after the first offensive series.

I wouldn't necessarily be opposed to retaining Johnson because I do believe that he has a decent future in the NFL, I just think that his overall role should be reduced.

Yes it does. He maximized Both's abilities.
depends on who the Head Coach is and who the QB is. If for some odd reason we make it to the playoffs and do some damage in the playoffs I would say yes.
I don't know. It's hard to tell. He hasn't been at it real long. Plus he has Dingletary and fail all around him within the organization. Who knows if he is good or not? You can probably do better. But he's certainly better than Raye. And he would function even better if you got Dingletary out of the way.

NOPE

Raye Jr needs to go along with the rest of them.

WHY? Since Mike Johnson is a much better candidate, then what we've had in awhile, since the days of norv turner. And unless we go back west coast, theirs no reason to make another switch at oc when he's doing his job. Now the head coach may go!

MJ is decent, and I wouldn't be totally against it. However, I do think we could do even better as far as an OC.
