But Rathman has been part of the successful years as well, coaching under Mooch.

I'm with you on this all the way.
Rathman is a good coach, anyway.
Him and Tomsula are the only ones I'd like to keep.
I won't be upset or surprised if everyone is gone, though. It is what it is. That's the NFL.

You guys are right, but I can't remember the last time a new HC replaced every assistant coach.

I read on the Press Democrat that Manusky is in his last year as a DC. This gives extra incentive for the 49ers to bring an external hire (Marvin Lewis, John Fox) that is approved by our next HC - and adding more incentive for the HC to pick the majority of his staff.
I think if we go WCO, Rathman, Sullivan, Hoener, Solari, and Brown are safe on the offensive side of the ball. Defensive side...I think Tarver and Tomsula are the only ones safe.
Kurt Schotty is gone gone gone
I disagree. Why should Jerry Sullivan be safe?
The same reason he has been safe through all the OC's we have had since 2005. Well respected as a coach and teacher by his peers and his players, teaches fundamentals, demands precision and attention to detail. Is also versed in both WC and Coryell systems.

You're right, they usually do keep somebody.
Too many unknown factors this early to really speculate, though.
This is going to be the craziest offseason EVER.

So would you limit the teams coaching choices to save his job? Would you tell the prospective new coaches in the interview, "hey we love you but you gotta keep Rathman or it's no deal"?
Don't think so, any head coach we hire can fire any coach we have. None of these guys is so great we can't replace them.

So if Gruden said "I'll take the job but I gotta bring in my own running backs coach" you would say thanks but no thanks, Rathman is a deal breaker? Don't think so!

None of the above. This is a middle school level coaching staff. There is no game planning and no in game adjustments.

I'm in agreement with most of the posts saying to keep Rathman, Tomsula, and Hoener. I'd even so far as to invite Solari and Brown back because pass protection this year, overall, has been MUCH better than last year (we're about average compared to giving up a whopping 40 sacks year)--and that's a foundation that the 49ers should work with moving forward if they pick up an offensive minded coach.
Unfortunately, Johnnie Lynn and Vantz Singletary are probably gone--they've got talent to work with and nothing significant has come out of their respective positions (secondary fails with decent corners in Spencer and Clements and even Brown, safeties Reggie Smith, Taylor Mays, Dashon Goldson have not shown much consistency since being drafted; of the linebackers, many were here before Vantz so he has not done well with the new blood). Sullivan will probably be gone on account of the various miscues by receivers, like the drops and things like that, and whoever the new coach is will probably bring in his own QB coach guy, so Jason Michael will be out of a job regardless.
I think that if the team builds upon the current positions which are strengths or potential strengths by letting the current position coaches stay on, the units will look much better when the new position coaches come in. Of course, it still remains to be seen what the offseason moves will be.
