I like the optimism displayed on this board. I guess it's understandable why you're infected with such contagious HOMERISM...
With a BAC of .065, I'm not sure who deserves the DUI more--- Mike Williams, or all the HOMERS passing around the KOOL-AID in here...
Regardless, this whole DUI thing is going to make things even worse for you guys because the BUCS are only going to use this unwanted attention to "circle the wagons" and focus even more on dissecting your hopes and dreams of keeping up in the NFC West...
DESPITE our porous run defense (just like with other teams we've faced with losing records) we will win this game too...

All of you Bucs fans think your team is all of a sudden a bad ass team...
Says the fan whose team finally managed to put together two wins in a row...
I'll admit that we may not be WORLD BEATERS yet. Nor am I saying that it's impossible for the Forty-Whiners to pull out a W this Sunday...
... I'm just saying it's highly unlikely.
Despite our QB issues, and stupid penalties all season, the Niners took the Saints and Falcons to the wire, the Bucs will have to play a really good game for 60 minutes if they're going to come and take a win in Candlestick....if the Bucs win, I'll be a firm believer of your team.

Make no mistake about it, now that Troy Smith has been allowed to emerge, your team's future is bright (at least after this Sunday)...
Just like you've had QB issues all season, we've had RB issues all season until we finally gave Blount some consistent snaps (and yet we STILL have a winning record)...
Troy is gifted physically, but he's still young. Look for Aquib Talib and the wiley aging veteran Barber to BAIT him into 1 or 2 crucial mistakes...
And finally, don't worry about the Bucs playing 60 minutes --- We have several fourth quarter comebacks on record that PROVES that we won't stop until the Fat Lady runs out of breath...

Troy is still young, but isn't Freeman younger!?
We have tons of veterans on defense who can execute a scheme that can frustrate Peyton Manning, Brees and Matt Ryan, and what I expect for them to do is this...
Stuff Blount, and force Freeman to take chances in the air in wet weather.
Yes, Freeman IS younger. But they're about equal in the amount of starts AND MORE IMPORTANTLY, Freeman has been able to benefit as the sole focus of the coaching staff.
Freeman's work ethic and support (coaching) is the main reason why his learning curve has increased so dramatically from last year to now...
At this point (and you'll notice this once the game starts) I would probably guess that Freeman is more adept at calling protections and recognizing defensive schemes than Smith.
Not only that, but T. Smith is not going to be the ONLY physically gifted QB to take the field (with bonafide weapons around him). So Stay tuned...

haha ok, I like Freeman's gritty'ness, and he plays with some fire in him, as well as Troy. Damn Sunday can't come soon enough...
Quick question for you though....what do you think of what Gruden did as a Bucs HC!?
In my opinion, even though he's "accomplished" in his own right, Gruden still has to live with the fact that he won a Super Bowl with
Dungy's team (true or not, that's sort of a general perception around here)...
When Gruden came aboard, he was only able to sign on a few offensive parts and widgets due to cap issues at the time. But he excelled a bit more than Dungy as far as offensive schemes and generally worked with what offensive parts he had, to complement the STELLAR DEFENSE Dungy left behind...
Make no mistake about it, TB's DEFENSE propelled them to the championship that year. Gruden's skill was in improving the offense just enough, so that it wouldn't get in THE DEFENSE'S WAY (unlike previous years)...
The Bucs have always had a reputation for Defense (at least in the non-YUC years). Gruden was supposed to be known for being an offensive guru. So in trying to live up to his moniker after the superbowl win, Gruden began dismantling the defense to bring in offensive parts to build his own team and escape the shadow of Dungy...
Although it wasn't a total failure (because of Gruden, the Bucs own more NFC South division champonships than ANY OTHER TEAM), most TB fans could gradually notice a decline...
In my opinion, it was time for Gruden to go, because after the Superbowl year, he insisted on making his players fit his fantasy scheme, as opposed to scheming to fit the players...
Fast forward to Raheem Morris debut last year. There was a lot of turmoil just prior and into 2009 which is why we went 3-13:
-DC Monte Kiffin leaving
-The promotion of Rah from DB Coach to Defensive Coordinator
-The firing of Gruden
-The promotion of Rah to Head Coach (yes, ALL of this practically in the same season)
-The hiring of a OC and DC
-The firing of the OC 10 days before the start of the regular season (I can't even make this stuff up)
-The hiring of another OC
-The firing of the DC midseason wherein RAH took over DC duties
So on & so on, there was MUCH turmoil...
Fast forward to today and the Bucs are actually beginning to shape something the team has never really had in all of it's young existence as a franchise...
...AN OFFENSE.
That's why the Bucs are an enigma right now, because Rah started by bringing in the keystone to make his vision work: A Franchise QB (something TB has never really had).
So I look forward to the game Sunday.
Oh, and by the way, the Saints (2 NFC South Titles 1 SB via the South), the Panthers (2 NFC South Titles, 0 SB), and the Falcons (1 NFC South title 0 SB) are all desperately trying to catch up to the BUCS (3 NFC South titles 1 SB) as far as division history...
They tolerated us last year because we were rebuilding... but they actually hate us with a passion. That's why it was so insulting to Atlanta when Rah said we were the best team in the NFC (because ATL feels this is
their year since historically, they haven't done much in the NFC South division).
Can you imagine ATL's frustration? The Hated Bucs (who were 3-13 last year) are nipping at their heels during a year that was supposed to belong to
them...
... We have a score to settle with them and they know it, but, can't look too far ahead on the schedule.
First things first...
