You keep saying that Ngata would allow us to run a 3-4 defense better because he's a better NT.

Um, bro. Haloti Ngata is a defensive end in a 3-4 defense.

To say that you could put him at NT is just nonsense and would most likely take away what he does best. Besides, idk if you realize this but we already have one of the better NT's in Franklin.

Either you just don't know football or you aren't very logical. Probably both.

As far as Marcedes over Vernon?! Defenses don't gameplan for Marcedes. THEY DO FOR VERNON.

Get your eyes/brain checked bro, they're failing you.

Yeah, this is true.... Wait, no it isn't. Ginn has elite speed. Too bad we'd rather have Morgan on the field because he can run block.

If Ginn and Troy can't convince coaches to let them loose over the next two weeks, I may just crawl up my own ass and discorporate.

Seven. f**king. Seven.

Let them play.

Ngata was moved to DE because Kelly Gregg is a Pro Bowl NT. Ngata very definitely could play on the nose in two-gap technique.

As to Franklin, he was a nice surprise last year because he played a one-gap technique at a position that is normally a two gap slot. Hence he did quite well. This year teams have prepared for him and he is having a much less productive year. They use his one-gap slant to push him out of the way. He just doesn't have the bulk to play two-gap.

As to Lewis, teams certainly do game plan for him but in a different way. Davis threat is deep, Lewis is a more versatile receiver who needs to be watched more closely in the under and middle areas.
Id rather have Vernon than Ngata.
If you dont have Vernon teams can just double cover Crabtree and we cant do anything on offense.
Plus if we draft Ngata we probably wouldnt have signed Justin Smith.

Justin Smith + VD >>> Ngata

No sorry but you're wrong. Ngata never was a NT. Kelly Gregg was there long before Ngata so why would Ngata "be moved" anywhere but what he was drafted to be, a 3-4 DE.

To say Franklin is having a down year is ignorant. Aside from the KC game our run d has been stout. "He doesnt have the bulk to play two-gap"? That's the dumbest thing you could've said. Bulk has nothing do do with creating leverage and the technique necessary to play 2 gap. Franklin and Gregg are the same weight and shape and both play at a pro bowl level in the 2gap.

You don't think Franklin has played better the last couple games?

I've read your analysis on this before and I've watched for it. You're totally right that they work angles on him.

He just seems to be moving better and holding up better recently. Could be my imagination, I admit I don't watch him as close as I'd like. I've been focusing on coverages and outside pass rush....

exactly. VD's career numbers are higher than Mercedes in less games and he was pretty much a secondary OT in his first 3 years until they actually let him be a receiver.

Also VD's stats would be a lot better if he had better QBs and OCs.
