''Start Nate Davis nom nom nom!''

Why?

Do you want a false qb controversy between whomever vs Smith?

I don't.

I'd rather keep Smith in , let him throw for 300 yards, and have Davis and Crabs have a field day.

but.. Singletary said he was strongly thinking about giving some 2nd and 3rd stringers some experience so... we still might see Nate Davis.

Personally I hope Smith sucks up the joint these next 2 weeks. The seasons already over and it's best that we realize this year that Alex is a lemon before we waste another season on him.

Wow. So you'd rather the Niners lose just so the guy you have disturbing hate against gets the boot?

I dont understand this type of hate towards Smith. Did he fvck your gf or your wife and send you the tape? Did he kill and eat your dog? Did he try to fondle you in the locker room or something?

I just dont get it.

The season's over with. Who gives a f*ck if we win some meaningless games.

Disturbing hate? I supported Smith for the longest time, but at some point every single one of us will jump off the train. Just because you're still bending over for the guy doesn't mean we all have to.

Bending over? LOL thats laughable considering I supported JTO and Shaun Hill when they started. Even when they played bad I never said the disturbing sht that you just said.

And I'm "bending over" for continuity and some semblance of stability for this team for the first time in almost a decade.

Guess thats too much to think about for you. Have a good day.

Here's where we disagree. You want continuity I want real change. Not half change. For the past 5 years our philosophy as been the same. This is still the same team Mike Nolan wanted to build 5 years ago.

Wanting Alex to fail in 2 meaningless games so we can get a new QB is disturbing? Please.

please propose what real change you would like to see. Merely saying you want change is complaining and whining.

"I want you to do something! Every decision you've made has turned out horrible!"

"what do you want me to do?"

"I don't know, you figure it out!"

"but you just said i make horrible decisions..."

"yes"

"..."

Dude. If it was up to me we would have kept Brandon Lloyd and drafted Alan Branch. I don't claim to have a plan that can make us a contender. If any fan is saying that than they're an obnoxious idiot. What I am saying is our current plan isn't working and never was effective either, and it's time for real change.

How we go about it is not something I can design for you but I can point you to teams in a similiar situation that are actually about changing their broken organizational structure.

I've not spoken much about the Smith debate in a while, but seeing this is just appalling. As if Nate Davis, a FA, or any other rookie would give us a better chance than Alex with a full off-season with the same OC for once, and some dang continuity.

Alex can absolutely play well enough for this team to go to the playoffs. If one actually THINKS for a moment, they realize that virtually any other alternative for 2010 is a far worse idea.

OTC, the only problem with your argument is that you are asking people to think...unfortunately, that won't happen.

No, the problem is he's once again relying on Alex Smith to get the job done.

And if he doesn't, we move ahead with the Nate Davis era in 2011. There's your new QB. And he can actually succeed because he's been in the same system for two years and he's had a chance to sit back and learn.

Experience is the best teacher and Nate needs some. Injuries are a fact of life and if/when Alex goes down we need Nate to have some real game experience since Hill is not our long tern solution and this season is done.

I disagree. He's not ready. He'll just fail and get gun-shy. We know how not to develop a QB. Throw him to the wolves before he's ready and make him learn a new system every year.

Keep the system the same. Give Alex one more year to prove himself while at the same time allowing Nate to completly learn the offense.

This way we get the best bet for 2010 and 2011 (If Alex succeeds, great, we keep him. If not, we move on to Nate who is now ready to assume the starting role).
If Smith flops these 2 remaining games he shouldnt EVEN get a chance to start next season drop his a$$ 3rd on the depth chart

I WOULDNT BE SURPRISE IF THIS CHUMP CHOKES ON SUNDAY!!!

Did Singletary really say that about giving 2nd and 3rd stringers some playing time? If so, maybe look for Nate Davis to play a few series for game time experience.

I do believe the coaching staff, eventually, plan to evaluate Nate Davis. Why would the team give up on a drafted QB without any evaluation???
I don't know about that (Ken Dorsey beating them), but Alex should do well. And to be honest, that's what has me a little nervous.

I would love for him to go out these next two games, play very well, and give us hope that he's the guy for next year. But what if he struggles. Or if for some reason, the offense just doesn't click and we win 2 close games.

I just want the suspense of "who's going to be our QB" to finally end.

Yeah, let's lose!!!
That sounds like a friggin' awesome idea!!
Genius!!
why didn't I think of it???

I totally want to lose the next game, and every other game that Alex Smith starts because I have a giant hard on for that guy!!!

It's the only way... don't you see? The only way we'll get better is IF WE LOSE GAMES!!!!

Two can play that game. Yeah Smith won 2 meaningless game against teams with a combined total of 3 wins. With that kind of momentum whose going to stop us from winning the Super Bowl next year. Alex Smith 2010 MVP baby! It all starts now.

Cool dude... let's lose. I'm so on board with that.
Best. Idea. EVER.
Cheer for the other team, that's what we're talking about, right?
that's what I'm saying.
GO DETROIT!

Who gives a f*ck if we win or not. These last 2 games are pretty much irrelvant. I was all for backing Smith when we had a chance, but it's over and we're long overdue for a new direction at QB.

Obviously, you don't care if we win or not.
Well, me either bro, me either.

As a matter of fact, every game that Smith plays in is irrelevant.
Because we all hate him, right? If there's ever a mistake on the field, and there's a bunch of them every game, it's definitely Alex Smith's fault.

I mean, Smith is the bane of our existence. He is the reason for global warming and the recession. With Smith starting, the entire team and their fans who want them to win are, in fact, irrelevant.

GO DETROIT!!!

GO RAMS!!!

Beat those Niner's!!!

Down with Smith!!!

If you guys are willing to not make the playoffs for another 5 years to develop Alex Smith, sure... keep him around. Let's wait till he's 30 before he finally gets it.

I don't know about you guys, but I'm sick of losing man... I'm sick of almost winning.. We keep saying, "there's always next year" This is a win now league, and Alex Smith cannot win now.

I, like most of us, am still very much on the fence regarding Alex. However, whether or not he is the future, there is no question in my mind he gives us the best chance to go to the playoffs in 2010. Let Nate sit one more season and continue to maintain continuity with Johnson taking over for Raye in 2011. If we fail to make the playoffs next year, Alex should be cut, we draft another QB, and start Nate in 2011.

The answer is NOT to clean house and start all over. I want to win next year.

Ahhh, logic and reason. How I missed you.

I honestly would not count these next two as easy wins. Many a time over the last 7 years I have expected blow out wins against inferior opponents and had to sweat the games to the end. Until this team has more talent and better coaching, there is no such thing as a gimme win on the schedule.

I agree, except that with Smith starting, we're better off losing... so I can b***h and complain about Smith when he fails.

It just makes me feel better, okay?

So, who do you want to start? Davis? Do you really think Davis will be better than Smith next year? That is almost a definite no. Davis is not going to be ready next year. Smith could get you ten wins if the rest of the team doesn't fumble, and let Brett Favre complete a pass on the last play. It's a 53 man roster.
The last two games might mean diff things to diff ppl:

For Singletary, maybe 8-8 means something.
For Alex, maybe having two good games vs really bad teams will buy him more time.
For our OLINE, maybe prove that they are not as bad as ppl thought
For...
whatever, we are not in the playoffs, so who cares about these games.

The only silver lining, if it happens, is if VD breaks the NFL TE TD record. I jus hope he gets to 14.
