No Comparison.

Brees was a probowl calibur QB going into F/A before he switched teams. A.Smith is still trying to prove he deserves a starting job next year at all.
Stop this thread before it's too late.

Mr. Smith is...
It's like comparing JaMarcus and Peyton.
My first thought was...

In what? A Thumb War?

Really Alex has better size, speed, and a quicker release (now, Thank you Mike Johnson)

Brees is accurate, ridiculously accurate, putting the ball places no other QB could.

I'm hoping their career arcs are roughly similar though!

lol nice. Alex Brees. only the webzone could go from nicknaming someone "Leaf" to "Brees" in a matter of like 3 months.

whoa there, pro bowl caliber speller....

Alex Smith hasnt won the QB job yet? really? his last 3 starts hes thrown for 739 yds with 7 TD's and 1 int...

unless you want to see Shaun Hill again, with his 15 yard noodle throws that skip off the ground...
I personally feel he reminds me more of Rivers, but that's me.

Did you even read the initial post, or any of the subsequent ones? No one is comparing the two of them as they are right now. Compare Alex right now to Brees in his 4th season and their paths look similar.

Ya...its funny.

People read the title and then make a post that they think makes them funny when it fact it just shows that they didn't even read the poast.

FAIL.

LOL. ;-)
Accuracy, Footwork, and Amazing Desicion Making seperate Brees from A. Smith. And that make ALL the diffrence.

Depsite his other shortcomings, I applaud Singletary for his role in Alex's development. He was around when Alex was put into a difficult situation his rookie year. He was around when Nolan refused to see how badly Alex's shoulder injury was, and he let him play while ineffective. Then he vilified him publicly.

Singletary saw Alex's physical skills, but he was smart and sensible enough to know that Alex's confidence needed to be restored, and that he needed to be encouraged and praised when he did well. I think Alex has matured a great deal. I think his QB coach has worked with his mechanics, and I think Raye and Sing have worked on his personality.

Now, if only McCloughan could find some talent for the OL. Alex's receivers need to become more dependable, and I think Alex will do his part in continuing to improve. If all this happens, I think next year will produce happier results.

I hope you are right. The only thing I am quite a bit weary about: "I think next year will produce happier results".
I'm sure you've heard that year after year after....
Anyways, life goes on.
For all the retards who still think Smith sux do urself and the forum a favor and GTFO....

Ur hopeless.

Well i feel like this. Forget with the potential s**t with Smith, because he's showing his skills now.

What would put him in the category with all of them in my opinion is the success of his WR's.

All the QB's Brees, Brady, Manning etc, are stars no doubt, however, i'll say with all three qb's their WR's make them look good maybe about 30 to 40% of the time. Meaning when there is a bad throw (no matter what type), if it's near them they catch it.

So i say if for the remainder of the season, we never have 10 drops, and with the exception of 1 or 2 total for the team, per game, then we'll be well on our way.
