Nate had the best QB rating of all of the team's QBs during the preseason. He definitely has the best arm and is more accurate. But unsubstantiated claims like yours fall way more towards opinion than fact.

He played against guys who were cut or were put on the practice squad of there respective teams. Smith and Hill took turns against First string defenses and guys fighting for a roster spot. So I guess you want the MVP of one of those indoor football leagues....I bet his stats are great.

Please, Alex played against third stringer as well. Plus, While Alex had some first stringer playing WITH him, Nate did not. Moreover, Alex shared practice time with the starters while Nate got very little practice time; so all in all, that whole argument regarding who was on the field is pretty weak. Bottom line is that Nate's arm and accuracy is CLEARLY the best on the team.

Fine against no blitz in the F'in preseason Nate is the man. And the niners backups are just as good as the starters for the most part. Let him take a regular season snap before you hail his accuracy. 2 guys Nate can be are Romo and Gerrard. Two guys who sat the bench for a while and learned the game. Best thing that ever happened to them. Im sure there more.....seems like Im forgetting someone.....

Some have benefited from sitting and others have benefited from playing. Who ever gives the team the best chance to win should play. The coaches have clearly indicated that it is Alex's to loose.

Nope - he reinjured it after he had already lost the battle for 1st string QB

And he will lose it... at some point.

Alex will once again prove that he is incapable of executing the offense out of pro-style sets and the team will be forced to either resort back to the spread formation, or give Davis the opportunity to see what he can do from under center.

Im not sure which path Singletary will choose, but it just seems completely backwards to mold the offense to #11 at the expense of our best offensive player (Franklin Gore), just because he's incapable of going through his progressions while dropping back from under center.
If the Niners even had an average line then maybe they could play in a real set but until then they are better off using spread sets. That arguement has nothing to do wih Gore or Smith. Why in the world would anyone want to put Davis behind a crappy line anyway? Thats lose/lose

Actually it was only discovered late in the preseason. It's just as likely that it was always injured and the injury grew worse as he played.

According to Alex, he was pain free leading up to the occurence and then felt a sharp pain after one throw in a drill towards the end of the practice.

I believe Mr. Smith was given that chance over and over and showed nothing until the 9ers started using the spread.

Nate looked great in pre-season, Smith never looked that good in pre-season.

Jamarcus Russel written all over him.

He bails out EVERY TIME there's pressure. He get's lucky on a few where his tight end squeeks free. I mean, in a real game situation all teams would have to do is blitz and take away Vernon Davis.

He is WAY too raw to play in the NFL right now

You're talking about Smith right?

He's acknowledged that after the 2nd surgery though his throwing motion is a lot easier and it's a lot more back to normal. If you don't see a difference with his velocity on the ball and stuff that's just wrong.

Wasn't Kurt Warner an Arena League MVP?
