Remember when we thought that Shaun Hill couldn't beat out Trent Dilfer? He wasn't getting any reps during practice. My point is that you need to give him a chance, sometimes players don't practice well, but have "IT" when it comes to gametime. He looks comfortable in the pocket, and performed pretty damn good considering that it was his first playing time ever in the NFL.

Well how is he to beat out shaun hill if hill was the starter? So your point is invalided. now if you would have said can't even beat out alex smith who was the second string qb then you may have been right. I think he showed enough against guys trying to make there teams that he's worth keeping around and grooming for the future. kid has a big arm and seems to have a natural feel for the game. but im not about to give up on smith to try the nate davis experiment out just yet.
Alex PROBOWL QB NEXT SEASON BOOK YOUR TICKETS EARLY!

Did you guys forget that he barely made the roster. Haurd deserved the spot but the Niners decided to go younger. Hes a bum at this point. Let him learn mechanics first.

This kid has the talent. He can throw with touch and proved he had poise. It's up to the staff to CULTIVATE it.

Whatever the case may be, he did look real good in the preseason. Weather or not he will actually be real good is questionable but another solid preseason should warrant a serious look at 2nd string QB at least.

omg no wonder everyone thinks he did good the o line is looking like the colts and saints no pressure for the completions
You mean he's moving in the pocket to create more time and throwing his receivers open like the QBs on the saints and colts
As opposed to running right and waiting for guys to uncover
no half the time he is still in the pocket motionless without any pressure and he does roll right too ok i agree nate can be the starter now if the other team puts in their third stringers aginst them otherwise its not tht good of an idea
he looked very good in pocket presence to me at least an with the exception of two passes in the chargers game he lookd the throw "smart" incompletions. he looked all around impressive to me.. barring the fact they were just preseason games

Nate had the best QB rating of all of the team's QBs during the preseason. He definitely has the best arm and is more accurate. But unsubstantiated claims like yours fall way more towards opinion than fact.

With the risk they are taking on Alex this season I have full confidence that they love this kid and you can see why. If Alex tanks Nate will get his shot. I think this kid is a baller.

Davis has shown good arm strength, ability to throw on the move & seems comfortable spotting open receivers from the pocket. His challenge will be learning the offense, last preseason they kept the play calls fairly simple for the rook. I'm excited to see what he can do when the play book is opened up for him.
