The best thing that could happen on this front is a win today helped by a solid performance from the offense.

The only solution is for Crabtree to change agents and get a deal done then. Parker can say he didn't cave, Crabtree can say he didn't have anything to do with it, and the 49ers can say they didn't want to deal with Parker.
I still don't understand how the 49ers can be so stupid to think that they can just offer one contract and be done with "negotiations." Do the Yorks want to get the approval of the fellow owners? The other owners are laughing at them.
I can garuntee you that the other owners (Jerry Jones excluded) are NOT laughing at the Niners. I'm sure they are VERY thankful to the Yorks for not caving and breaking the slotting system.

It sure does when we have 2 first round picks next year.
Unless you don't mind having ALL of our capspace tied up in Crabtree and 2 rookies and have no $ left to reup Willis.

If we break, you'll have future rookies all over the league trying to get what THEY THINK they're worth. Every front office in the league would give us the stank eye for opening a can-o-worms.

ESPECIALLY when next year is the last year before either a lockout or a rookie cap

As already posted in this thread, the can has been opened many times before and the end result is it never caused problems.

He's not our biggest need. If he was a stud QB or pass rusher, I would be more inclined to break the slotting system.

How can you guarantee that ?

They probably are laughing at us for not attempting to meet in the middle somewhere and show that we are at least trying to sign him.
They are also going to be thankful for us for basically drafting him for another team or allowing him to re-enter the draft thus adding to the talent available in next years draft.

Can you recap for us which non-QB's have held out and broke the slotting system?

Where did you get this from ?

I don't think he will sign. Part of me would rather the Niners not trade him and him get picked in the 2nd round and lost a TON of money. I would laugh so hard!

I can easily see Michael Craptree, his cousin and agent all sitting in front of the TV watching the 9ers vs Cards game and....pulling for the 9ers to lose!
Why?
Because in Craptree little selfish world, he believes with a lost, additional pressure will be on the 9ers to cave in to his outragious contract demands.
The very best thing that could happen is a WIN today, thereby showing Mr. Craptree we can INDEED do without him and his selfish ego.
And even better would be our WR core being a clear part of that win.
Sorry Mr. Craptree, you lost a paycheck today and here is to the 9ers PROVING to YOU, we don't need your silly little butt!
Go 9ers!!!
