Chris Long, the Ram's 1st round pick in the 07 draft, finally lived up to expectations with a huge break out game for the 2nd year pro. Long racked up 6 sacks and 3 fumbles. Long terrorized the 49er tackles from both sides; he also recorded 6 QB hurries.

Marc Bulger capitalized on the turnovers with 3 short td scoring drives as the Rams held off the surprising 49ers 28-14. Shaun Hill played the entire game for the 49ers but was not protected well and his limited mobility in the pocket resulted in disaster. Leonard Little also recorded 2 sacks and 4 pressures.

Hill finished 13 for 32 for 142 yds and 2 tds with 1 int. The 49ers clearly missed All-Pro Frank Gore as rookie RB Glen Coffee was repeatedly stuffed at the line of scrimmage and was held to 35 yds rushing on 20 carries. The Rams continuously used 8 and 9 man fronts against the 49ers while consistently getting tremendous pressure from their ends. Rookie LB James Lauranitis had a game high 15 tackles and the lone int.

When the 49ers got off to a 2-0 start, I looked at this game as a "trap" game. Right in between Minnesota and Atlanta, but having come off a heartbreaking loss, we get to see what this team is made of.

49ers Linebacker Patrick Willis breaks NFL records today with 50 tackles, 10 sacks, and 7 interceptions to put the 'battered' Rams into a pitiful submission. -But these records did not come without controversy.

During the end of the 4th quarter, with 40 seconds left in the game, Patrick Willis delivered a monstrous blow on Rams backup QB Kyle Boller, injuring his sternum and lower back. But it didn't stop there. With Boller lying on the field in unspeakable pain, Patrick Willis then dropped his pants and began to defecate on Boller.

Surprisingly, the officials excused the happening, and Willis was not ejected from the remainder of the game, nor will he be facing any sort of pending punishment from the league itself.

Boller was taken to Stanford Medical Center following the game (undergoing heavy x-rays), with conclusive results showing a ruptured disk (in the lower back area), a broken sternum, and bruised shin. Kyle was eventually released from the hospital after his 4-hour exam, but sadly... the team plane left without him.

When Singletary was asked about this incident in particular, Mike simply replied: "Winners leave nothing behind, losers forget to wipe."
