You guys are never going to let me get passed that one. And if Alex Smith isn't in the league 2 years from now, it will be all yous' turn.

The reason for that is Smith can do no right and is always wrong. Where as Hill can do no wrong. Smith has a great practice it is chalked up to "it is just practice" Where as if Hill has a great practice it is because "he has the IT factor" Smith has a bad practice it is "he is a bust cut our losses now and drop him" Hill has a bad practice it is "the defense just had a good day" Don't forget that Joe is the ring leader of the Smith hater circus

I do not worry about it myself, his history of irrational posts on the subject speak volumes about his lack of objectivity when it comes to the QB position. (See his posts about JTO from last preseason.)

Based on each of their respective playing time this preseason, JTO is again outperforming both Hill and Smith this year...

JTO was normally the best player on the field...for the other team. He threw them the ball whenever they needed a clutch turnover and often folded like a chair under pressure for them. JTO was a defensive coordinators dream, a player with all brawn and no brain

Actually no it wont be "our turn." I dont think a single Alex Smith supporter on this forum has said the guys gonna be a HOFer or pro bowler or GREATLY exaggerated his abilities and talents like you and some others did with JTO (remember the photoshop JTO/Montana pic...?)

The view of those that root for Smith:

-Would be NICE if he panned out because it makes the MOST sense for the TEAM. It solidifies the QB position down for the next 7-10 years.

Thats it. No one says Hill sucks. Hill is excellent. The only problem with Hill is we're going to be RIGHT BACK @ square one in 2-3 years. Be realistic. It has nothing to do with "Hill vs Smith," but everything to do with the 49ers. The sooner people like you realize thats what WE are rooting for, then you'll understand why people root for Alex. Hell, I WANT Hill to start this season but I still want Alex to be "the guy," because, like I said, it makes the most football and economic sense.

So I dont know what you'd be throwing back in our face if Smith dissapears a la Shuler style.

"Oh see he sucks..." - ok no one said he was amazing.

"Oh see he's a bust..." Ok fine, all we are saying is he isnt a bust right now with only 27 healthy starts. If he's gone in 2 years i'll wear a t shirt that says, "Alex Smith owes us 31 million."

"Oh you guys dogged Hill..." No we didnt. We just hold each QB to the same standard. Im pretty sure more Alex "supporters" give Hill props than vice a versa.

"Oh we were right about Hill..." Uhh ok, congrats. None of us ever said you would be wrong.

Honestly, the only people that stand to look like total jack a$$es are the ones who are so adamant about one player over the other.

Anyway nothing personal btw...I'm just sayin...

I never quite understand the arguemtn about "if his does stick around, we will be in the same place in 2-3 years? The guy isn't even 30 yet! A solid QB will play at least until 35 or so. If rreally good like Warner or Favre, they play till 39 or later.

So if AS pans out, he can play till he is 32-35, but if Hill is around, he can only play till he is 31-32? As history shows, AS is the more fragile QB.

Now honestly, I do wish the guy the best, for the sake of the team...

I'm not talking about how long the QB will play. I'm mainly referring to how long until we have to draft a new one.

With Hill - 2-3 years

With Smith- 5-8 years.
