Is this before or after future contracts and current contracts go off the books. Not to mention the dead money which is top 5 worst in the league. There's a reason the cap space is high at this point in time. Seattle has a high cap space but trying to hash out the Witherspoon deal and still save enough for a guy like Clowney to come in and rotate if available. Vita Vea makes a lot of sense for the Niners tho it's certainly a position of need and would dynamically change the structure of their defense in a positive way. I think a second round pick is worth it. Not a first, the up coming draft is crazy talented

Eagles paying their starting DT's a combined $64 million sesson.

The Rams will trade for him, he'd fit well with Garrett and Aaron Donald. We can't afford to give him the contract he'd want.

If they're willing to trade him for a 3rd round pick, I'd do it even without a contract extension (although Vea may not be down with that). He'd then almost assuredly get us a 3rd round comp pick back the following year after signing with another team via free agency.

What future contracts do we have to sign that are big? We are 16th in dead money if I'm not mistaken. The big thing is the cap hit if or when we cut Aiyuk which isn't looking like anytime soon if ever

There's over $36 million in dead coming off the books of the active $71 million of cap. In comparison Seattle has less than a million it's barely over $500,000 for the Seahawks. They should get Witherspoon signed long term this week. He's been in camp all week but after that they should have enough to absorb Vea's $17 mil off the books this year if wanted but again they are absolutely stacked up the middle. Makes more sense for the Niners

Vea is exactly the type of guy I've wanted in the middle for years. I don't know if the Niners would be willing to do what it takes to get him but he would be a great addtion.

Every contract now has to be the highest ever for that position. I know NFL teams are making a lot of money but this can't go on forever. I love football but I'm already in a position where I can no longer afford to follow every Niner game because of all the additional subscriptions I would need. It's only going to get worse as salaries continue to escalate. I miss the days when I knew what channel the Niner game was going to be on and I just turned on theTV without having to sign in or create an account and passowrd for another streaming service.
Ryan Clark, Jamele Hill and Emmanuel Acho are rumored to be starting a podcast together
