Darnold is like Andy from Shawshank. He had to crawl through all that mess to get to SF.
I imagine he feels like this right now.

Darnold could be Brooks and just want to be hidden and terrified of the new world

No he's Andy; TL is Red, he's trying to get rehabilitated. KS is the parole board. BP is that hotshot who looks like Elvis but got assassinated in the yard (vs Eagles). Sudfeld was Brooks, he's gone now.

One of the greatest movies ever. Hope is a beautiful thing.
i know some ex cons who saw it when it first came out and they were loving it more than a pig in mud. Hahah

TBH, I'd rather see what Darnold has than trade for Cousins. And this is coming from someone who wanted Cousins before.

Cousins stuff is all smoke.

#1 his contract is a lil prohibitive
#2 MIN doesn't have a QB (Mullens doesn't count)
#3 MIN doesn't have much draft capital or position to land a Week 1 QB in this draft
#4 SF doesn't have draft capital to trade for Cousins; unless MIN is giving him away.. why would they give him away.. see #2 and #3.

It will be Darnold and TL

MIN probably drafts a QB of the future; let's him sit a year under Cousins, maybe this Hooker

Oh no, you're most likely right. But if SF is trading for Cousins then you best believe that Trey Lance is in that discussion.
Trey Lance's cap hit would go from 9ish million to 11ish million if we make that trade pre-June 1st. It will be 5ish million if we wait until after that. So with a June trade, Trey would cost us 5 million, saving us about 3 million, and then we also have to pay Cousins. As much as everyone here loves Cousins , I'm sorry but this is just not happening.

If you go look at Overthecap's team salary calculator, you see that the trade pre-June 1st bottom number (cap savings) is in parenthesis. Accountants use this to mean negative (don't ask, it baffles me too). That means we'd save NEGATIVE 1.78478 million if we trade him, turning his cap number from $9,301,434 to $11,081,912. That's how much he will cost against our cap if we trade him before June 1st. If we don't, if he stays, he'll cost 9.301434 million. If we wait until June 1st to trade him, he'll cost us $5,540,956 million, saving us about 3 million. And then we'll have to pay someone else to take his spot, which will definitely cost more than that if we want someone BETTER than Trey. Which means we LOSE cap room no matter what.

He's not getting traded unless someone overpays.

Feel like Darnold is trying to get rehabilitated even more so than Trey. And Trey hasn't really played, so it's almost like he's in prison for something he didn't do. Nothing but hard luck for him.

49erscap.com says the Niners would lose 1.55 million in cap room if they traded Lance before June 1st. He notes that the Niners can restructure Christian McCaffrey's contract to create around 8.5 million in cap room. Since the trade is before June 1st there's no dead cap hit going forward.

Yea that dude is stuck in a different reality as it relates to the cap ramifications

Go back and look at his college stuff. Pretty impressive.

He has as good a skillset as there is
-Kyle Shanahan

head coach Kyle Shanahan is high on Darnold, claiming at the NFL owners meeting that he, "has as good of a skillset as there is."

"That's why he went as the third pick in the draft," Shanahan said, via Pro Football Talk. "When you study his play, you can see it too. I don't think he's always been in the best situations, which is tough for quarterbacks. It's tough for all players, but it is one position, and it depends on the other 10 guys around you, too.

"And I think Sam has played and done some really good things in this league, but hasn't won a ton of games and been thrown in some situations where you're going to keep both teams in the game because you got to keep slinging that ball and give your team a chance to win. And so, you don't always have the best stats, but you see the ability. And he's always had that ability since his first year in college when we started watching him, and there's no reason he can't do it."
I'm sure McC put in a good word for Darnold.

We may go into the season w/3 QB's like we did some time ago,

Probably. BP may be on the pup or IR, some equivalent.

We did it last year.

End of the day I don't care who our QB is as long as we win the SB. But that's what I find amusing. Some of the same people excited about what Darnold can do because Kyle was high on him...are the same people saying Trey Lance is done here(ignoring the fact that Kyle Shanahan was incredibly high on him as well...which is why we drafted him at 3)

I recently posted in that thread that yes KS is high on both guys, and they both have a great opportunity in front of them this offseason. They both will need to elevate their game quite a bit. There are reasons to be optimistic on both. To Jordan's point, when Sam gets in the huddle, he will have weapons on a level he has not had before. Not to mention, KS calling the plays.

I get it but come on, there's a big talent disparity between Darnold and guys like Gabbert and Beathard.
Yo that video from Cowherd was downright comical.
