Week 18 suggests otherwise

Oh stop with your ignorant comments, Darnold isn't Sudfeld s**tty you and I both know that.

Notice he cherry picks some random week in a year where Darnold was 92 rated QBing a dumpster fire

Yup pretty much the usual ones do that.

Darnold has had some bad seasons no doubt about it, but this will be the first time he's on a real team. And depending on how he performs this upcoming season he has a chance to still with the same head coach two years in a row.

This dude sucks. I dont see any difference in a raw young QB and semi-young reclamation project QB who has been awful for years. Either way, its a risk and will have ups and downs. So I dont see why we are even bothering with Darnold.

KS needs someone to pilot this thing.

He doesn't know if BP can (injured).
He doesn't know if TL can (still developing, not there yet).

He likely suspects Sam can. He's wanted Sam for years. KS loves Sam's game, and suspects with our roster, he can accomplish real things here. KS also loves TL's potential. So I think TL has the inside track here to try and meet that high ceiling potential, this offseason, he needs to show that. If he doesn't, and BP isn't ready, it's Sam.

You have no idea if Kyle wanted Sam for years. He wanted him out of college. Things change.
since the draft and the recent trade to the panthers. 49ers were rumored to be in the mix. now that we actually get him leaves anyone to wonder how true those rumors were

Imagine thinking KS has cooled on his interest in Darnold.. after you know.. we just signed Sam Darnold

"We brought in Sam because we can't be set for sure on Brock because you never know how the injury will go." - KS

Seems pretty cut and dry.

Do you think Sam will be getting QB1 reps if/when Brock is healthy?

If Brock were healthy, Sam wouldn't even be here, so no.

Why is he splitting QB1 reps with Trey? Just for the hell of it?

Neither of them have taken any first team reps yet. The first OTA is more than a month away.

Do you think Kyle lied when he said that?

Nobody is arguing against it. It's not meaningful to single out this point.

Brock's injured and his timeline for return is questionable, and how he looks when he returns is also in question. We're trying to have a competent QB playing for this team and the best guy for that position is hurt. If Brock is hurt and you can't bank on Trey playing well, Darnold is another viable possibility. Simple stuff.

It's a nice way of saying "we need some Trey insurance if our starter isn't ready. We can't even trust Trey to be a backup and bridge the gap for a few games"
Ignoring the anti-Trey delusion which obviously biases certain posts about Sam, there is this to give a little hope:

Also, his highlights are encouraging. But that's looking through rose colored stained glass windows. If, however, he can eliminate the negative plays (and there are many), he'd be really, really good.

Interesting tidbit but I don't follow.. why would them sharing an agent mean it goes to Sam?

Iirc, Brady and JG had the same representation.

Basically if Trey had any future here his agent wouldn't let Darnold come here and impede. I guess he's implying that their agent has to like Darnolds chances of starting
