Ah I hear it now, thanks!

I thought I heard something about it "the way we got you a plane" or something.

False.

he said "I dont know if any of us will be alive Sunday"

Some stuff that is still really terrifying me about Lance.

He has the least pass attempts of any QB drafted in the first round in something like the last 40 years. That little of pass attempts against FCS defenses. leaves a lot of questions

The accuracy issues. 44% accuracy rate past the line of scrimmage. lowest of anyone drafted in the first round since 2017.

Lastly, sometimes he shows a lack of touch on his passes. Not saying he cannot throw with touch but sometimes he threw the ball way harder than he needed to. Probably causing some of his accuracy issues TBH.

Obviously, his experience is not his fault. His accuracy could improve and I do think he more than likely learns with experience when to throw a rocket pass and when not to. Lance might be one of the biggest boom or bust candidates ever drafted this high. I would be lying if I didn't say this pick scares the hell out of me.

20 years old.

If true, then that is SO FREAKING AWESOME

Jimmy is a team guy, always has been. Hopefully pur offensive line is good enough to keep him upright this year, he took way too much of the blame for injuries when the middle of our line was a sieve last year.

With Jimmy and Kyle coaching Trey up, I disagree he'll take 2 years to compete with Jimmy. I think he'll be ready to compete next year. Treys game is inconsistent and rough, but its not anything like Mullens who had zip talent and practically zip experience in the pro-game.
Trey Area and the rest of the gang is about to tear the league up!

Not at all a concern. They are impressed with his decision making,... And the same highlights we'd hate if it were the NFL,... actually helped position him as a player worthy of Top 5 pick (I. e.,... Showing the ability). He's playing FCS ball... Highlights "or else."

We're fine here. More concerned with how he will look testing areas down the field,...how accurate he can be as he develops.

We only have a 1 season sample of him against hog farmers and cat quest reps.
just trying to see if anyone has popped out of such obscurity to be a top level qb.

I don't know the answer to your question offhand. But it's funny you mention this because I also went through through high school rankings to see who was highly regarded. Here's a fun exercise: Look at 24/7's top rated high school prospects of all-time. The list is surprising.

I'm aware of those lists. We get a lot of them and play against the rest at Bama. Def some outliers and busts but recruiting rankings are pretty good considering the different competition levels around the country.

I do know that Herbert was only a 3 star prospect. Not sure where he ranked among QBs out of high school. The thing is kids mature at different rates and some guys are completely different when they're 20 than when they were 17. He's physically much sturdier than Lawrence, Wilson or Jones.

People dramatically undervalue how important the school you went to is for high school recruiting. But lets just call it how it is, if we are now talking about if he was recruited high enough coming out of high school to be considered in the pros....you just dont like the kid so there is no convo to be had.

I agree completely but do have to point out those guys put at least 2, if not 3 or 4 good college years on tape before coming out. In this case we have 1year and 1 subpar game.
Not his fault at all but it worries me a bit.
There is no reason Trey can't compete for the job this year. The QB position has never been easier to play than it is now.

Shrink the playbook and get this kid some experience.

Kaep was phenomenal at times but his short-comings bit us in the ass more often than liked. Let's hope the first three traits above are worth the cost!

Zero snaps under center for Kaep, ran pistol offense at Nevada. Lance took 60% of snaps under center.

Please no more of these.

They are totally different players aside from straightline speed.

Dual-threat, rocket arms, super fast, same build. Obviously both played in different offenses in college. Yes they are different players if my assessment with the first three traits are accurate.

The way I look at it, every comparison completely goes off the rails when you get to #4. Kaepernick was aware of the presence of a pocket as a football concept but had no idea how to operate in one. There is no way to meaningfully compare a guy who can operate in a pocket to one who can't. They have totally different games.

I don't know about these ratings. Most can't be graded until Lance actually plays a few games.

Kaps decision making stunk. He was his best when Harbaugh read the D and gave him insight right until the mic cut off. The play clock always went to zero.

Kap could throw a 94mph fastball, who cares. He had no touch on check downs(if he saw them), and any designed short pass had way too much zip on them. Looping a ball over a shoulder rarely happened.

Vision for me is the biggest, and Kap could not see the whole field. Again he was his best with Harbs as his eyes, Most off his passes were hooks to wrs coming back to him. Defensive coordinators figured him out after year 1.

He failed in 1st and goal in the SB. Some blame Roman, but Kap with all his speed and power had Ray "last stupid ride" Lewis between him and the goal line, and didn't try to run by him or through him. His mental game and leadership ability wasn't championship caliber.

Well, we did.

Kyle basically asked Lance if he felt Kyle's hardon for him the last 4 months

He'll play this year,... Just based on what we've seen from the QBs we have.

I just think you wanna work him in gradually... Maybe mid-season... Bit by Bit if we're not in contention. Get him some traction with positive situations.

I personally think we've given up so much for him that they're gonna be hesitant as hell to really ask for him to go out there and win a game for us early on.

I think Kaep was more a running back than QB. And he was more interested in politics than football. The one thing that stands out in terms of differences between Kaep and Trey is that Trey has more ways to throw the ball. Others have said it, Kaep throwing a 60 yard bomb is the same Kaep that will throw a 65 mph 5 yard flair out. Dude had never heard the concept of throwing with touch. Trey is already working on those QB mechanics with Beck and Kyle -- and Jimmy will also help with any remedial tutoring to catch him up as fast as possible. Jimmy's health demands it.

As others have said, we already have a Mac Jones here in Jimmy, what we have as a backup QB #2 (potentially) is a younger and faster Steve Young.
