I think if they opened up with the run and used play-action more it would've got Lance more into a rhythm and maybe could've found his groove. But whatever it's just one preseason game.

I'm gonna say he looked pretty bad. The oline didn't help, no doubt, but he didn't do anything to help his cause. Down the depth chart he goes to number 3. And I would only keep him there bc of his familiarity with Kyle.

In summary, he's hot garbage.

Probably first game jitters from a horrific injury but yea...down close to our end zone I felt like he took a sack that didnt need to be a sack. Gotta get it out there or scan back to your right.

How does passer rating account for that, btw? Furlow?

No single star accounts for everything a QB does.

Yea. Are QBs really 42% better than they ever were? When you cite rule changes you are making my argument for me for why the damn thing is broken.

Dont cite it individually,...especially for a few quarters of football. It means next to nothing. Please learn how to use numbers,...it's not too late for you.

Rule changes don't mean the stat is broken. Passing yards and TD's are up as well, does that mean they "went extinct two decades ago?"

I'm referring to the rating IN RELATION TO (this is the key part you're not grasping) the QB's performance.

Did you know that only 4 metrics even factor into passer rating to begin with? Completion %, YPA, TD%, and INT%. That's it.

With all the data we have and can gauge today,....this ain't enough if we want to judge a QB's play. We need more.

I think someone said Trey's rating for the game was almost 113. Lol what are you not getting here?

We want to compare QB play? I need more than a passer rating. Not nearly enough,...especially today.

Only because you REALLY like running QB's.

Since when? Link?
He really might be competing with Brandon Allen smh

The money would make this hypothetical decision for us, if it were to come to pass. It's not time for it now.

You're obsessed with QBR, which favors running QB's. Link 😂

Trey was bad. OL was bad. Defense was Bad. s**t performance all around.
I was cheering when Trey was drafted but when he actually started playing, I began to doubt. Based on today's game, I don't think he improved at all. Actually he even regressed in my opinion. I understand he's also coming from an injury but if you're competing for a position, to be a QB2 or whatever, you should at least show something. I can't even think of any silver lining from his game today.
Turrible game.

QBR. which also is far from perfect, measures individual impact. Running quality is going to be heavily based on the QBs ability. It makes sense.

Justin Fields has one of the greatest individual running seasons for a QB last season and his overall QBR was right at the average mark.
He has the next game to improve and try to maintain that #2 position. If he falters again, I can see him dropping down to #3. Its all on him to take advantage of every opportunity just like Purdy did last year.

I don't see how Lance stays #2. Darnold is just a better version of Lance.
He was not good. Had open receivers but didn't throw the ball. Cut option or 3rd string.
