Some fans are petty and emotional. I would understand if you got 4 yrs of film on him, that's enough time to come up with a reasonable opinion of what he is. Kid has 100 passing attempts in the NFL. Look folks, here's the deal. We paid a kings ransom for this guy. He's given us the Trey Sermon level of availability / production. This is results business. Are you available? Are you productive? When that stuff flips and the answer is yes to both, we all will be singing the praises. With great investment, comes great expectations.

Lot of ways those three ones could have pushed us over the line each of the last two season, if one uses imagination, #6 and #7 already in the case perhaps. We were like 5 yards away from winning it all each of last two season, just needed a final push to the endzone, so to speak.

So why doesnt this apply to Jimmy, who you and others were SO condescending towards anyone who wanted him replaced? Jimmy started and finished 59% of the our games that he was QB1. That is completely unacceptable.

I mean, the fact that you feel the need to come up with childish nicknames is a pretty good indicator to me of how you feel about a player, and I feel MORE than comfortable labeling you as a hater after reading something as immature as that.

doubt/criticism = hate when it comes to TL, that's the way it is with his fan base on here, their faith in the man's ability without seeing any substantive NFL results is like belief in a religion, the religion of Trey

This is not correct at all. I was of the opinion after the 2020 meltdown season, we need to upgrade the room. Moving up to #3 and taking a project type was not the way I would have gone about it, I can say. I can also say if we moved to 3, Fields was the pick I was hoping for.

Now the info is a lil different. TL can't stay healthy at a worse rate than JG. He started 2 games last year. He was supposed to start 17 this year. He started 2. That's 2/17 = 12%. Also he got hurt game one of last year. Then game two of this year. Brock got nuked. JJ got hurt in like a series or two. Deep issues with QB injury and it's not contained to just JG. It's a 49er problem, right now.

This is Trey's chance to grab the job, but he has to show he can run the offense as good as Brock.

Even if the defensiveness between Jimmy fans and Trey fans was equal, it's not BTW because why would there be more defenders of a player who's accomplished nothing so far vs a player we've made two NFC championships and 1 Super Bowl with, you still have the difference that posters are making definitive statements about Trey's career before he's had one.

At least Jimmy has had 6 seasons as the starter to prove his worth.

Even some of the staunchest Jimmy defenders have admitted the hate towards Trey is on another level due to the lack of sample size.

Nah thats not true at all. Its absolutely fine to question his abilities until he shows it. Its the constant "he is never going to be good" or "we wont make the playoffs with Trey" type comments that get classified as hate.

Also, being critical is fine when its warranted too. But lets point out the facts about the Bears game which people are forming their opinions on Trey from:

-It was raining
-No George Kittle
-Elijah Mitchell got hurt early on (obviously no CMC)
-Three first year starters on the OL making their first starts

So now I ask you.....how fair is it to really criticize Trey Lance for this game given those circumstances? That is why people call criticism of Lance "hate" because logic should tell you he should get a bit of a pass for that game.

This will be a good thread to avoid during the offseason because nothing productive will come from talking in circles.

Trey just needs to get to work.
