One QB won and one QB lost. One QB was thrown into the fire with a dumbass coach who did everything he could to damage the QBs growth. One QB got to marinate for a year with one of the greatest offensive minded coaches. One QB is surrounded by all pros and one QB is throwing to a player we cut cause of how s**tty he was.

I gave JG a pass in the atmospheric river Colts game.. gonna give TL a pass here also.
Its tough to give passes in losses when the other team dealt with it too. Wentz dealt with it especially in that game better than Jimmy did. However I feel in Lance's case he got screwed over. It was almost biblical how our offense would trot on the field and the monsoon would happen. Then the Bears would trot on the field and it turned to light rain.

Why is that a laughable comment? It's a great post imo. Only reason TL should start is he gives the best chance to win. We gotta see it. JG won in Chicago last year and played very well in that game. The weather gives a pass for a lot of the final drives yesterday. Let's see it next week. If TL is not ahead of JG right now in talent he shouldn't be starting. Play only the best ppl at each position.. the ones that give the best chance to win.
Its been one s**t game. Benching him now is retarded.

THays why you use 3 first round picks on a guy. To be the reason you win.
With that said, he had about 5 beautiful throws yesterday. I know he can do it. But can he do it on a regular basis? Can he do it when the game is on the line? Can he manage a game? That's the key.
I'm disappointed that the weather and the team mistakes kept us from truly evaluating him yesterday. We waited all offseason and we get screwed as fans. Next week will be a better time to really judge.

Most do after 3 games
Kap didn't. He didn't even need one game. The moment he stepped onto the field he was already killing it immediately, took us to a Super Bowl in the same year and was hot for a couple of years.
Likewise, Jimmy's first couple of NFL games with the Pats were also pretty impressive which ultimately led to the 9ers agreeing to trade for him when Belichick called up. To follow up from his Pats outing, Jimmy also killed it immediately the moment Beathard was injured and scored a touchdown right away against the Seahawks with 2 mins left in the game. He then started for the 9ers and won all 5 remaining games of the season when the 9ers only had one lousy win all season before his arrival.
Hence the word most not all.

i'll go ahead lay much of the blame on the weather in the 4th qtr.
we've already seen Trey mount a comeback (last year against HOU) so i'm not too worried

End of the day it's just one game.. there is still a whole season out there for TL and us to WIN.
Sure hit your layups. But the biggest reason the Bears won is the 9ers beat themselves.

No one is talking about benching him now. Unless he is clearly worse than JG. Do you think we should be playing him if he is clearly worse than our QB2? Some posts on here have said lets dedicate the year to developing him while we lose games.. I don't agree with that approach. He has to show he is as good or better than JG. He will imo.

Trey will be fine and I hope he grows into the best QB in the league. I think this is possible with Kyle Shanahan.
Both Joe Montana and Steve Young looked pretty bad when they took over the full-time job. It took Joe about five games to find his footing during that 1981 season. Nobody remembers the first three games, when the 49ers stumbled out to a 1-2 start, because Joe didn't look anything like the Joe he would become.

One QB got gifted 100 penalty yards the other QB didn't. If it were the other way around we win the game too. Two can play this game

Only way of knowing he can do it on a regular basis is by him playing. I'm looking forward to seeing him in back to back games for the first time since 2019. Nobody knows if he is good or bad yet. I agree trading up for a QB means he has to be the reason a team wins. You don't replace a QB to give the reigns to guy who has to be carried all the time. Does he need to be the reason they win right now? No, but he needs to be the reason at some point this season.
I do agree yesterday sucked for the fans. I really wanted to finally be able to evaluate Lance yesterday but the moment I saw the tweet about weather I knew it was going to be a disaster of a game for both teams

You 100% give him the year. You give him 3 or 4 actually. We gave up way to much to bench him his 1st year starting.

3 first round picks for a QB who struggles to go through his progressions. Uh oh.
