Beyond the numbers, brother. Fields flashed special. Literally won the game for his time because no one made anything happen. That receiver was that open because Justin scrambled and threw back... HE did that. It wasn't a blown coverage. You're trying to downplay his performance by pretending like there wasn't a drastic difference in Chicago's offense in the 2nd half.

It was 1000% a blown coverage. No reason Greenlaw needed to leave to go pursue.

Blown because Fields escaped pressure and was a potential threat as a runner.. see how that works? Greenlaw didn't get lost on his own.

pettis was literally just standing there. there should have been a defender occupying that area of the field.

guys this isn't difficult to understand

The Niners players may have remembered what kind of player Pettis was so they just ignored him thinking he would drop the ball anyway. You just don't see guys that open in the NFL unless a defender falls down and the receiver runs away from him. Pettis was completely ignored. Even Jimmy could have completed that pass.

Didn't need to spend three 1st round picks on Fields.

I expect our super bowl roster to lift up the kid instead of fumbling in the RZ, blowing blocks, gifting 1st downs and giving the other team 100 yards. Yeah the rain played a part especially towards the end.

We'll need our franchise QB to stop throwing wild, Inaccurate passes, otherwise it's gonna be a long season.

Only person special is anyone claiming that.

Exactly my point too. The 9ers have already dished out big contracts to a number of star players including Warner, Trent, Kittle and Deebo. That means the team by right is ready to win now. The only way the 9ers can recoup such a huge investment is to win as much as possible and hopefully including a Super Bowl. If Lance does a Josh Allen and needs 2 full years of starting before coming good in Year 3 (that is if he comes good at all), our star players will be aging by then. Our realistic window is this year and next year. Anytime after that, if Lance still remains as the 9ers QB, he will have to win with another group of players.

Bosa won't be aging. Deebo won't be aging. Aiyuk won't be aging. Warner won't be aging. Only guy that would be over 30 is Kittle.

It's also a hell of a lot easier to build a whole other group of players if your QB is elite than continually having to find elite guys to make up for your decent qb.

One QB got to marinate for a year with one of the greatest offensive minded coaches. One QB is surrounded by all pros and one QB is throwing to a player we cut cause of how s**tty he was.

One QB got gifted 100 penalty yards the other QB didn't. If it were the other way around we win the game too. Two can play this game

We earned all but 1 of those 15 yarders (Aiyuk) I'm just comparing the two contrasting ways Fields and Lance have entered the pros. And how it seemingly didn't really make a difference for 1 game this year. Hopefully by years end this will be the game we all talk about as the how did we lose that game like the Falcons game in 19.

Nice opinion. Irrelevant to this topic, though.

his short game will take longer to develop, we've known this. it doesn't help throwing in a monsoon in the 4th quarter either

Because he doesn't have touch and doesn't throw a nice soft catachable ball.

Only one person claimed he was special. Many people have claimed Fields was better yesterday.

It's one game. In a long season. We will be fine imo.. and TL will change the narrative next week. I tip my cap to Fields and Chicago they played the better game. You can't commit that many penalties and turnovers. Terrible punt in plus territory also.. which is another turnover imo..

Chicago made plays in winning time. We did not. On to the next.

One QB was gifted with average starting position at the 40, one at the 10. One QB was gifted with a roster full of pro bowlers and all pros, a quarterback guru for a coach, a dominant running game and offense line.

And then we marched that QB down the field for him with dumbass penalties. Preaching to the choir with the rest; if the season ended yesterday then the sky would be falling for me too. It didn't; it was a damn monsoon where I didn't think either QB played well and most QBs would struggle in that type of weather especially for the first game of the season where I saw many QBs play like ass without weather conditions. Hey whatever though you guys want to throw tantrums like children after one game have at it; I'll watch more then one game before I crucify a kid in his first season

He was only targeted one time yestarday. They probally didn't even think he was playing.
Oh so now PFF is good. But in the O line thread it's crap. Consistency

Fields was better than Lance by far yesterday. It's not close. He won the game with the inferior team and worse field position too. Lance had all the advantages. Yet still lost. Better team, superior field position, better coaching. He couldn't do anything with all that.

Lol no he was not. Man stop making stuff up.

All of Fields points came off massive penalties. Fields had 120 yards (one massive play off a broken coverage) we gave them 100 yards.

Lance did have a HUGE advantage with field position all day. Couldn't do s**t. One mistake by deebo wasn't on him though.

Yeah he did have a big advantage. Still couldn't get it done.

Kid needs alot of work

Most do after 3 games

Kap didn't. He didn't even need one game. The moment he stepped onto the field he was already killing it immediately, took us to a Super Bowl in the same year and was hot for a couple of years.

Likewise, Jimmy's first couple of NFL games with the Pats were also pretty impressive which ultimately led to the 9ers agreeing to trade for him when Belichick called up. To follow up from his Pats outing, Jimmy also killed it immediately the moment Beathard was injured and scored a touchdown right away against the Seahawks with 2 mins left in the game. He then started for the 9ers and won all 5 remaining games of the season when the 9ers only had one lousy win all season before his arrival.

This!!!

Lol hold the phone did that TEAM look like a super bowl roster yesterday? Everyone talking about we should be going to a SB blah blah blah. That was horrible play all around man. We got our $70M WR fumbling in the RZ, we got everyone on defense causing penalties. Our OL couldn't block. Once Mitchell was gone we didn't know how to run the ball…what happened to this amazing roster that was suppose to help this kid get to where he's supposed to be? Jimmy wasn't winning this game either.
