This discussion about sitting vs starting is very similar to the KC Smith / Mahomes talk. Did KC waste a year of Mahomes' rookie deal sitting him and/or did the year sitting allow him to burst onto the seem in his sophomore campaign?

Meh, would've been nice if he would've gotten to play the covid year but in that case we probably wouldn't have got him at 3. 1AA is a complete non factor. NDSU proves year in year out they produce nfl level talent. I trust ndsu prospects over a ton of 1A teams. s**t, Treys teammate Jabril Cox transferred to lsu during covid was instantly one of their best defenders and ended up drafted #14 overall.
Shanny had a plan with this entire situation and so far it's worked out perfectly. We were minutes from a super bowl birth which is a highly successful season whether people want to accept that or not. We increased Jimmy's trade value. Finally, Trey learned a ton about nfl football and had more time to perfect his mechanics. Part 2 of the plan will take place next year when Trey gets live bullets. It will NOT be PERFECT. He will still be seeing many schemes for the first time but the kid is obviously a quick study so he will figure it out. Like it or not the only chance you have for him waiting till 2023 is if Brady or Rodgers come knocking, and I'd think any niners fan would accept a SB run with one of those 2.

Tough choice. Somebpeople argue we can have a super bowl run with current roster. Minus some salary cap rearranging.
Don't shoot the messenger.

We have another chance at a SB run in 2022 for sure. We need Lance to be an average or better QB, trending upwards towards the end of the season and we should be in great shape. The NFC is much weaker than the AFC, with the Niners and Rams as the exception. I'm sure another team or two will join them, but it's not nearly a deaths row like the AFC.

Agreed. But whats the plan if trey needs some more baking? Roll with dalton?

Rolling with Dalton is equal to mailing it in. Lance is the QB. He will struggle. He will thrive. Looking for middle of the road year one QB1, with trending upward towards the end of the season. If that's an expectation, then it's fair to assume both better and worse outcomes are feasible, but both less likely. Obviously if he's better than
.If he's worse than average, similar to how Fields or Lawrence or Wilson played this year (with a vastly better roster around him and better coaching), then we're in trouble and we may have to restart this whole experiment.

How many here had ever slid on turf?
Im all for sliding on grass, but sliding on turf is a different animal.

consider we will be adding another starter (JG will be gone) via draft or by trade.
This of-season will be fun
Chance not really sure what the hell you are trying to say tbh
I'm illustrating how Lance is coming into a unique situation. How many 22 year-old top three draft picks start on a conference championship roster? I'm venturing that this is a first in NFL history. So the previous poster using stats from more common scenarios (ie young QBs playing on s**t teams) is disingenuous af. Which is nothing new for Brodie.

This is an 8mportant element of our predictable 2022 season that needs to be planned for.
Why do we feel the need to make things up. Nobody has ever reported this, it's complete nonsense.

Because the only way you can 'win' arguments from a position of ignorance is to construct straw men. Generally speaking.

Im saying hes not being instructed by shanny to claw for every yard. So that cant be the reason he doesn't slide. Yet he doesn't slide. So it should be trained
Is that too complicated for y'all?
