Looks like Trey went on the Mac Jones diet.
It's obvious that Trey's 3 months pregnant.

After watching every offensive snap for the kid, and not just his highlights. He has some work to so. He has never carried a team with his arm. I hope we can develop him, but ideally, he needs a year to sit and train. Hopefully jimmy wins a superbowl and we trade him for a decent haul before handing the team over to Trey.

He's played just a handful of quarters where his team was actually behind and even then he wasn't throwing it a lot.

He's got a lot to learn and being able to ease his toes into the water is likely going to be far more beneficial than to just throw him into the deep end.

Ummmmm he Went undefeated. They have already lost games. He carried the team just fine

So did Easton Stick. You want him starting?

He carried the team just fine

He had just one game in college where he threw it more than 24 times. Four games where he passed for more than 200 yards. Six quarters in his college career where his team wasn't ahead. He's never really had to carry an offense with his arm.

The more time he gets to sit and watch, the better for him IMO.

It sounds a bit backwards to say, "he's inexperienced throwing the ball so he needs to sit and watch". Doesn't he need to play and throw? I know we're talking more about in-season, and so I hope Kyle can work him into some subpackages for development sake. Give Lance some film of himself to watch and learn from. Really curious how Kyle approaches this.

Lance needs to get a high number of preseason snaps imo. Let the competition for backup QB mainly take place in camp. Let Lance get a bunch of preseason snaps so he can adjust to NFL speed. I figure 'NFL preseason second half' is similar to high level college speed.

It's certainly a double edged sword. He needs the reps but he may be better off sitting if his mechanics need to be improved. Rodgers sat, worked on his mechanics and hit the ground running.

Of course the big thing with Trey is just the lack of pass attempts in college and playing at FCS. Hopefully he gets enough reps in camp and preseason and his mechanics don't need a serious adjustment but yeah...somehow he'll need to get the reps to learn the NFL speed. Preseason will be the closest he gets unless he looks so good in camp they can't reason giving Jimmy the start in week 1.

It will be curious to see how this unfolds.

Camp Jimmy is going to be important if Jimmy holds it with Trey. One way to get those mechanics and timing down is work against air until camp. Don't know if at some point, Trey will be holding his own camps- but the 49er defense looks good, and going against them in practice will help a ton getting Trey up to speed. I know ward and fred would love to intercept some Trey passes in camp practice.

We do need some youth at CB and we just traded our next 2 first rounders to get him. He's just doing us a solid and producing extra talent for us to develop.

His kids will be too big for a corner or a safety. Outside linebacker to compliment Fred????

He definitely needs to play and throw but its still a huge step up from the level he was playing at and the NFL. I watch a lot of NDSU and they basically run roughshod over people with a power run game reminiscent of the 2011 49ers. Opposing defenses put far more emphasis on stopping the run than the pass.

I think a preseason and a full season of simply getting to sit, study NFL coverages, learn the offense and continue improving his mechanics would serve him well.

I wonder if there will be some sort of balancing act for Kyle, whether he looks to get Lance on the field during the season. I can see Lance contributing in goal line packages as a rookie where his threat to run can give him the chance to run it in himself, or use that threat to make some easy completions to open targets. These types of plays aren't complicated and can get Lance's feet wet while in the flow of the game. Jimmy drives them down the field and Lance punches it in.

Check out the plays at 0:45 and 3:22. They're simple and uses Lance's dual threat ability.
There's no reason Trey Lance can't catch a pass from Deebo Samuel. Just say'n.....
How's he going to win offensive rookie of the year on the bench?

And then PHI went on to win the SB. I'll take it.
If Lance doesn't learn to protect himself as a runner, then yeah, this is a legit danger to playing him.

Imagine how much better he will be when he's not pregnant 👀
Dam...Trey's hands are smaller than everyone's including Alex Smith and pipsqueak Kyler Murray. Lawrence, Wilson, Jones, and Fields all have bigger hands.

Justin Fields has the same size hands 9 1/8 and Mac Jones were only slightly larger at 9 1/4

Trey might still be growing so his hands could get bigger.
