Just run the normal offense. RPO action will be enough to keep Houston honest and Lance healthy.

I'd like to see how Trey has progressed with RPOs. He had no experience coming into the league with them, and I always felt that his delivery could affect him from transitioning from the mesh point to throwing.

I don't mind the designed QB runs, but the QB powers do make me hold my breath. But then I see Josh Allen running them every Sunday.

What I don't want to see him doing is double clutching. Trust your eyes and let it rip, Trey.

I'm excited as f**k for Sunday.

Is he ready to throw touchdowns and win games?

What would be a realistic and fair expectation this game?

No dumb INTs and turnovers.
Lower completion % but couple of big plays with his arm
Couple of big plays with his legs
Couple of plays where he should have thrown but ran
Couple of plays where he should have ran but threw
Couple of plays where he shows - ohh he's special
Enough plays to win the game
Look good enough to make you feel after the game that he should have been playing

This is actually fair, although I expect at least one turnover.

As long as it's not a dumb self-inflicted one...I am good with that.

He's about to join the Mac / J Herbert pantheon of NFL greats.

You don't take a team to the Superbowl in the regular season. He was clearly talking about the playoffs. Clearly.

We dont win the Saints and Seahawks games, we don't go to the SB. They were two of the biggest, key games on the schedule. They had major implications that we knew about going in, so he had that pressure and rose to the occasion.

The entire run in 2019 was more than the Minnesota and Green Bay games. Down the stretch of our regular season put us in that position for 2 relatively simple home games to head to Miami.

He was clearly talking about the playoffs.

Agreed on all points. We can make an argument that this offense is designed to excel at RPOs - run game centric with YAC monsters. Like you said, Lance is not familiar with RPO reads based on his lack of RPO reps in college.
If Kyle uses lots of condensed formations, because that's what he likes to do for the run game, it will not help Lance's postsnap reads with everything bunched up in the middle of the field. The last thing SF should do versus HOU is commit turnovers that will even the playing field versus an inferior opponent.
Having Kittle this time should help Trey and the running game.

Also not having to go up against JJ Watt will help.
Really excited about watching Trey play. My guess is Kyle will be his usual ultra conservative self and try to run the ball 40 times. It's not that he doesn't trust Trey, but with ALL rookie QBs, it takes awhile for the game to slow down, as they say. I expect some sailed passes and bone headed throws from Trey but in many regards, we were already getting that from Bad Jimmy.

Also, it's hard to change your playbook on a dime. Yes Trey allows us to open the playbook and hit the deeper pass patterns and out patterns that Jimmy can't throw, but our receivers aren't used to running those routes.

Will prove to be interesting!!!

Yup. The only one who can stop TL is KS.

Of course what Belichick has done his career is be multiple. If the defensive plan is to run stuff, throw. If the plan is to shut down the pass, run. The defense dictates based on what they are not prepared to stop. I imagine Houston will come in to stop the run, which means opportunities should be there in the pass game. If this is the case we should throw early to get them out of those looks and then run.

But what do I know I'm just a fan and I could be wrong.
I said it before and I'll say it again. If rumor is true about how he's been in practice I think we let him let it rip it.

he can run the exact same plays and still get big plays

Jimmy has the option to go deep...he just cant make the high difficulty arm strength throw so he doesnt take the risk

Trey could have hit BA on this play but his arm let him find Sherfield deep down field

Jimmy G runs this same play and usually takes the short throw

Jimmy G hit the deep route with Kittle v GB before because kittle was wiiiiiide open

Trey works in the existing offense. The major change is the "decoy" routes used to move the deep safety will now become valid targets

Just don't do a lot of stupid QB designed runs like they did last time with Trey. Especially the ones where they just have him run straight up the middle into the Dline.

Amen brother! KS is responsible for putting players in good positions. Would be nice to have a complete game with no big shots to our QB. Keep that jersey clean.

I think we'll know within a few pass plays how ready he is.

I'd rather see him stay in the pocket for an extra second (give or take) and throw the ball away than panic and resort to the legs too soon.
