if they keep running him up the middle, then nope I don't want to see him out there.
If Kyle changes the playcalling as if Jimmy is back there? then yes I wouldn't mind it.

Yeah, and while Trey isn't going to be a sitting duck like Carr, he's still being exposed to a lot of hits on our designed running plays. The halftime show analysts noted it, as did Jimmie Ward. We don't want to see Trey taking his hits so early in his career.
There was a play where he could've easily just ran out of bounds, but opted to turn in and took a hit. He's still learning the balance of knowing when to put his body on the line vs protecting yourself.
He's definitely going to have to do a better job of protecting himself. Run out of bounds instead of taking the hit, start sliding instead of going for those extra couple of yards and getting rocked. But for his first game its tough to criticize all the little things he could/should have done.

They've taken the ball into their opponents territory on 10/15 drives that Trey Lance has been under center this season
The offense has clearly moved the ball better with #5 at QB
Where's the comparison with Jimmy though?

Lance needs time. Fact is, year two/three is when you find out you have a franchise guy. Because those are the years film is cataloged and the QB has to adjust.
this season is going to end with a short exit in playoffs at best. Let's hope those second rounders can contribute early…. If the 49ers still have em.

With Jimmy they've gone 3 and out a lot.

All day long the kid kept his eyes down field, avoided a number of sacks. This throw right here is part of the upside. You build off this performance and never look back.

I am whelmed.

Postgame, Kyle Shanahan said "nothing's changed" re: Jimmy Garoppolo's status as the #49ers starting QB when healthy. But he also refuted a report from NFL Media that Garoppolo would remain the starter now matter how well Lance played.

Shanahan said someone "made something up."
