He's not worth the 100 picks they gave up. Definitely not ready.

This is what I'm seeing and concerned about as well...

I am whelmed.

Simple question: was there any rookie QB this season who had a better first start?

Off of memory, I would say Trevor and MAYBE Mac? But yeah Fields and Zach were worse I think.

Trey had an easy TD here to Mitchell. These are the type of plays where he needs to use his mobility to stress the defense with his legs but beat them with his arm. I can't count how many times Patrick Mahomes or Russell Wilson on these time of plays press the line of scrimmage to suck in the defenders, take a step or two back to buy an extra second and lob a pass over them for an easy TD.

This play to me was Lance thinking he can do what he did in college in the NFL. He ran over people a lot in the college and this would normally be a gimmie. Hopefully he learns that it wont work anymore.

He had the angle towards the pylon, but hes a rook learning on the fly.

He'll learn when he wakes up in the morning and wonders when exactly the team bus hit him.

Lawrence had 3 interceptions in his first game.

The people even bringing up Patrick Mahomes in the same sentence as Trey during the offseason need to get their eyes/brain checked, especially our braindead local media.

Mahomes' throwing talent is in another universe compared to Trey's. It's not close.

100 percent. Josh Allen too.

Not only is Lance way less experienced than both of those players coming out, his arm talent isn't anywhere close to their level. Pure arm strength maybe... means absolutely dick.

That being said, I'm trying to be patient with him. It's not his fault our FO decision makers and Kyle lost their f'ing mind trading what they traded to move up and draft him where they did. A poor decision from almost any angle you look at it.

-Play Jimmy G and let Trey learn on bench.
-Throw Trey into the fire and live with his mistakes and hope he stays confident and improves.

Neither of those are good options for a team expecting to compete for the playoffs/Super Bowl. Jimmy G is a below average NFL starter, not factoring his durability issues. Trey clearly isn't ready.

You end up with a team that has a hole at QB, and no real immediate impact from a top pick (again)... and as the games play out, you see your roster isn't quite as good as you might have thought, and you have way less ammo to improve it.

Funny, I just watched , in tonight's game, a wobbly bubble screen pass from Mahomes that was dropped.

Trevor had 3 INTs versus an abysmal Texans team.

Cool.
Didn't like the pick when it happened, showed nothing today to convince me otherwise

Deeply concerned after one game of football?. That's crazy talk.

It just don't see Jimmy as the difference between where we are now and contention. Kyle does because he's on the hot seat and wishes to go with what he knows. But the team he's put together on offense isn't disciplined or executing well now regardless of who we're putting out there.

So why not ride it out with the kid? He's only going to get better with more experience.

Because the gameplan to have production for Trey is going to really wear him down. He's just not good enough as a passer for us to have much of a different gameplan from today.

It can really wear on a QB—-The punishment David Carr took in his first couple years for the Texans destroyed him.

David Carr was a sitting duck who got smacked, left, right and centre

Nothing jumps out at me and says #3 pick.

Anyone who thinks Trey looked bad hasn't been watching the other rookies. f**king idiots 🤣🤣🤣

Other rookies show promise. Name one pass play that Trey impressed. I can't. Not one.

Where was the deep sideline pass? Oh yeah the one to deebo that was out of bounds. I like the kid, good kid, but he's not accurate. He's not a qb. You can't teach accuracy. No touch and no accuracy. The worst combination.

He had at least three clutch throws that converted third downs where he put the ball only where the receiver could make the catch. Two to Deebo and that long conversion to Aiyuk. Really nice throws and really nice plays by the WRs.

Let's be real here, there were lots of holding calls out there that really hurt our chances and Trey continued to move the ball decently. I thought he played pretty well after the INT and had a couple balls dropped that would have kept the chains moving.

Lots to work on which is to be expected. Some designed runs he may have been better to be patient instead of going head first into the gap. Definitely some erratic throws and high fastballs. Feels like he stares down his reads which leads to the tipped balls. And in the off-season I'd like to see him tighten his throwing motion and get a more consistent spiral.

But all in all, he looked okay out there and showed enough positive to outweigh the negatives. Of course your mind has already been made up since he was the pick taken in the draft.
