I think Ryans will still be here next year.
Defensive head coaches aren't fairing too well in the league today. For instance, all 4 teams left in the playoffs are led by offensive coaches. Even the many of the teams that got eliminated are built on offensive leadership — Raiders, Packers, Cards, Cowboys, etc
You really want a guy who can call plays and maximize the value of your QB. Then when teams come trying to hire away your coaches you want 100% continuity on the offensive side of the ball.
We saw what happens when you have 7 OCs in 7 years or whatever it was or when a team has the best offense ever then has their offensive play caller hired out from under them (see Dan Quinn in Atlanta).
Lastly, even if a team did want a defensive coach, there's several super experienced guys already on the market (Quinn, Bowles Zimmer, etc).

As much as folks in the Jimmy thread love talk about wins.... real NFL people who plan to give away millions for a HC know wassup with our team. Main reason we are winning is because of our defense.
Someone is gonna snatch him up. Too many vacancies right now.
So what's the general consensus on his replacement? Dline coach? Lord Fangio?

Demeco has been a player on teams that have had Pat Shurmur, Matt Nagy, Doug Pederson and Duce Staley as coaches so his short list for OC candidates could include candidates not on Kyle's staff.
Though not sure Doug would be an OC again.
But what if they expect him to bring Shanahan's offense?? It might work well with Cousins.

They run a lot of the same concepts already in Minn. It's all Kubiak stuff, Kyle adds his own flare to all it but it's not gonna be some massively different scheme.
I don't see Ryans getting a HC job this yr, from what I've read it looks like the Vikings want someone who's been a HC prior.

And since Embree has been in Shanahan's offense for four years I would think he has good knowledge on how to call it and coach it. But yah, I think Kubiak Jr. would be the choice.
Jon Embree has never called plays since he started coaching in 1991. He's been primarily a TE coach 2006. I mean there's nothing in his resume that leads me to believe he can or actually wants to call plays.
End of the day I don't see Ryans getting a gig this yr anyway. Wouldn't be shocked if it's Flores/Quinn/Bowles in Minn. Reporters have said that Kwesi Adofo-Mensah isn't tied to a certain HC candidate, Breer just brought up Ryans because he interviewed there and KAM worked in SF for a hot min.

Vikings hire Kwesi Adofo-Mensah as GM, who is said to favor Demeco Ryans for head coach

Another option for Vikes OC if they did want Meco, is to keep Klint Kubiak in his current role and allowing him to continue to grow and develop as an OC. He did garner some interest from other teams while the Minnesota situation is in flux....

They're already running a form of Shanahan's offense.

It's seems crazy to me that a first year DC is getting HC interviews. I'm mean he's doing a great job but you would think you wait for at least 2 good seasons. I guess good poster hard to find

Kyle pointed out that they run his dad's offense not his or one of his disciples.
You can really see it in the Vikings utter lack of creativity on offense. It's still effective but not creative in any way.
