Sanders is the better performer today.

Signing Green could work out. Or it could be manningham 2.0.

Honestly, I wouldnt mind signing green for vet min plus tons of incentives and keep sanders. Reduce snaps for green -- what he needs. Trade pettis and goodwin for 4th rounders.

Let green and sanders work with deebo bourne and whover else is healthy.

Whatever the equation Manny is a rock star.

He. Catches. The. Damn. Ball.

Pay heeem.

Folks AJ Green is not signing for some vet minimum, not even close. He still has a market and will be in demand. According to some we cannot afford Sanders, sure as hell not affording Green.

I fully expect Sanders to be a 49ers next season as it's a perfect marriage

U "think" so? LOL

Guess how old he is now... I guess people still don't see the pattern. How did Tory Smith, Pierre Garcon, Marquese Goodwin signings do? U guys don't learn from recent history?

trading a 3rd and 4th in this deep WR draft class to rent a 14 yr. vet for half a season is another idiotic move by capt. america

We traded a 3rd and 4th and got back a 5th. The difference between our 4th and their 5th will be about 20 spots.

And we went in given the success of the team and the chance to push for a SB. Captain America helped get us pretty freaking close. Had not we not made the trade we wouldn't have gone as far as we did.

Pierre Garcon was never intended to be a long term answer at WR. He was a cultural signing, and those are important when trying to create a new culture in your franchise. Kyle was doing what Bill Walsh believed in, and needed a few players who would exemplify this new culture, PG was one of those guys.

It's like when Walsh signed guys like Lenvil Elliott, who was a back he had in his Cincinnati days. Coaches need guys that can run their system until they find a talented. Also that take about trading for Sanders in the post you quoted is awful. We saw what our offense looked like. Lynch and Kyle didn't want to blow a potential Super Bowl run when they saw how good the defense was, but the offense clearly was lagging behind. Everyone saw how the offense was lifted when Sanders joined the team. That Captain America talk reeks of some unfounded hatred/agenda.

Good post.

To add to your first point, not just familiar with the system though, familiar with the coaches expectations on and off the field. PG was a high character player who kept his head down, displayed a strong work ethic and led by example.

Best to use that #31 pick or trade down for a replacement.

Can't expect the passing game to be better if you replace Sanders with a first or second day pick. Rookies can take time to develop and play with consistency.

Hopefully, we can find another Deebo - someone who is ready to come in and start right away.
Yeah without Sanders there was no way Deebo would have done what he was able to do as rookie. We all saw that with our own eyes how the WR group struggles until Sanders arrived . Shanahan has always liked having a veteran somewhere on all levels of his team both on offense and defense. That's not about to change now. Also our QB feels more comfortable with established players he can trust. Now combine that with a complicated offense to learn, we are not going to chance our season on a rookie WR. Not saying they won't draft one to develop but to get starters minutes on a SB contender would be out of character

Green would be awesome

While I agree with you on the injury front, the infatuation starts with his Moss like physical stature and ability.

I would sign him to a 1-2y deal if he's willing but not more than that.
If Sanders had caught that pass he'd be back for sure.

Now, I don't feel he will be.
We have to bring this guy back. The young pups need this type of leadership, especially Deebo. He has the potential to be really f**king good.

Agreed, Niners have to at least kick the tires on EVERY reasonable option this off-season to boost their deep threat game. Teams like the Pats and Seahaks do it every chance an opportunity presents itself.
Doesn't cutting JET and Goodwin clear enough room for Sanders?

Which staff members and can you back that claim up?
