They could still remain as teammates at this point.

Yes. But Jimmy is gone at the latest next year. Once that relationship with your star player goes sour, it is very difficult to fix things. Even if they FT Deebo next year it doesn't mean he will accept a long term deal at that point and may want to test FA. Add in the fact that you still have to re sign Bosa. You cannot keep avoiding the inevitable. Sign them or lose them is what it comes down to. The longer you wait, the more expensive they become.

Whatever
If Jimmy is on the team longer than Deebo we should reopen the Fire Lynch thread.
This is how contract negotiations take place in the social media era fellas. Don't panic and don't turn on Deebo.
My opinion is you have to pay Deebo. This has to do with the credibility of Shanahan going forward. When you take your heart and soul at WR and make him a RB and he delivers for you under the toughest of circumstances for the world to see then you gotta pay him because he's what you said this team was about. Even more so than George Kittle he came through

If you now don't pay him you lose credibility and guys won't sell out for you any longer

Lesser talents have been payed and Deebo ain't. No excuses can be made for this unless you have a trade on the table for him right now as you had for Deforest Buckner

The last thing you want on your team is offseason drama with a guy like this

By acting like kids? Doesn't seem like a mature way to negotiate a new contract. He needs to be patient and trust the process.

From my perspective he's negotiating a contract and there's people in here acting like kids.

It depends on what they have offered him. If its like $18-20 Million. Yeah that's insulting.

Yeah, that would be disrespectful to say the least.

Still don't agree with sports athletes acting like that. Hopefully this doesn't roll over into the season though.

We'd be getting more comp than Buck imo. Look at the Hill deal as some idea of the comp. I would have a tough time saying let's pay $30m annually if the plan is to run him thru all 11 defenders up the gut. We legit were deploying as an RB for the 2nd half. Not sustainable he had to be scraped up off the turf all postseason long. It's a pickle we are in. JL will figure it out.

Based on this offseason, Apparently it's Jimmy

Last week they said that they want to trade Garoppolo. Shanahan also said that they want to re-sign Samuel.

That's far from insulting.

Oh, it's not just athletes, it's society as a whole today.

Where is he acting like a kid?

There are no established rules or even etiquette as far as social media of an individual player goes. I mean sure they shouldn't write dumb stuff, but who they follow and not follow is really not a big deal. It enables players to say stuff without saying it explicitly, but really it's just whatever.

You're not obligated to follow your workplace on social media.

I don't see anything even remotely wrong in what Deebo has done. It's benign.
