I like what I saw from him this past season before the injury.

I didn't see anything last year that looked any better than I had seen before. Like cool he can run block so could Compton that's not impressing me. A top 10 pick shouldn't struggle this badly at Pass Blocking.

Terribly overrated even as a run blocker.

I've seen him whiff on run blocks more than you would expect from an "elite" run-blocking T.

i agree,, i could care less what his so called score is. i go by what i have seen from him in games. i got a great score on basic skills test one year. but barely made it through a two year college.. i have no point here

I've seen baby sea turtles run faster than that

Now he's training with Kinlaw and his anorexia is wearing off on him too

This is why we can't have things, nice or not.

Offensive linemen are going to look like sea turtles when they run. Kinda normal for those big boys... also he is
rehabilitating in the clips and not trying to show off like he is in mid season form.
exception is joe staley.. remember when he would catch a screen pass and then do his first down celebration thing!

I actually agree with this. I think Kyle's system helps his OL a lot in regards to PFF ratings. Unless you believe that Tom Compton was the best run blocking tackle in the NFL last season not named Trent Williams.

I don't think MM is trash but he's overrated and that's saying something since pretty much most fans don't like him as a player.

I'm not worry about McG (if healthy) if he plays like he did this past season. I'm worried about LG/RG when it comes to Trey

For sure. We should know pretty early if he's on track to be 100%. I wouldn't bank on it; get some security just to be safe. His depth will get most of the reps for sure so that's good too.

Is that really good though? It seems like whoever we have playing O line will need time to adjust to Trey's style of play. So if McG misses time and reps with him, it will either slow the gelling of the line, or at least set him back.

There are a few more exceptions than that, we do have some athletic OL in the league that can run a lot faster than expected.

But generally the OL are your big uglies and nobody cares how fast they can run in a straight line in shorts.

Biggest takeaway is he is rehabbing and his weight appears to be in a good place, he isn't going to need to do a serious amount of bulking up. Good to see he is able to put in the work now and hopefully he will be a go for training camp in August.

That's a really good point. I just meant that its good for the backup to 1) find out who his backup will actually be and 2) he won't be a deer in the headlights to start the season IF MM can't go

But overall, that's an excellent point. These guys aren't blocking for a classic pocket passer with a <2.5s release

A guy (starter) like MM will need as much time with Trey as possible to learn how to be his dance partner as a run blocker for him and esp. in pass protection with off schedule scrambling.

Agreed.
Which would you rather have at right tackle?

A) Average run blocking + Elite pass protection

B) Elite run blocking + Average pass protection

"A" without question, unfortunately, MM Is neither, and that's why It's Important we look for an upgrade.

Seriously. Especially in today's game/rules.

Unfortunately Kyle is having the same reaction to B since he's run-centric.
