I don't think a trade can happen, or if it does happen, there's going to be pre-conditions like how many games he starts determines how high a draft pick we get back. With Brown's health issues, I don't think anybody would be looking to give the 49ers much in terms of trade capital. But if they can swing a trade for Brown and get a decent high round draft pick, that would be eye opening and raise my opinion of ShanaLynch very high.
I don't think SF makes the trade unless it's for picks this yr. I see a 2nd or 3rd
Agree about the picks. He's a good RT and I can see ShanaLynch not trading him this year unless they get decent value. But getting a 2nd or 3rd, in my opinion is highway robbery. I just don't see any team willing to part with a 2nd or 3rd for an injured out of shape T. Brown with weight management issues. I really don't, then again, I didn't see Jimmy coming to the team either.

I will be LIVID if we trade him for anything short of a 2 this year. He is an elite RT. He isn't a great system fit but damnit if we blew a top 10 pick on a guy who most peg as a high end RT then a 2 for a proven elite RT in a OT hungry league is more than fair.

Just pissing away talent when this team can't afford it and should be addressing other areas of need.
Anyway, welcome Mike McGlinchey. You're a Niner now, so we're all rooting for you.
That

happens when you don't love football, in my opinion. Then you have guys who have barely starter level athleticism - wring out every drop of talent they have and contribute greatly to the team. Guys like Bill Ring, Ron Ferarri, Brent Jones, Frank Gore (knee), Ian Williams come to mind.

The Pats have the best o-line coach in football. It wouldn't surprise me if they were intrigued with Brown who is a gifted pass blocker. Getting that 2nd round pick back would be a coup, I'd be shocked if they could get that much for him. That second round pick could turn into Landry.

Everyone's complaining, but curious to see who you would have picked up at #9. Every other player we could've had at 9 would present questions and I'm willing to bet the same people complaining now would be complaining regardless of who the pick was.

I'll be honest, I didn't love the pick but I certainly understand it.
Just like ER, OT is a premium pick in every draft, the good ones go Top 10 every year. The 49ers have no interest in selecting that high again in the upcoming years and have an older veteran at LT and who I consider a liability at RT last year. We all wanted to solidify the Oline this year, and they did just that.
Now if this was a better OT class would MM go top 10? Probably not, but that cliff between MM and the next best OT was a biiiig drop. If I was a Raider fan I would be deeply concerned, Kolton Miller is not a good prospect and Tom Cable isn't exactly a developmental Oline coach.
One of the videos compared MM to Nate Solder and that makes a ton of sense. Solid player that will be there for 10 years, maybe not a pro bowler/hall of famer, but you're not going to have to worry about him for a long time.
KYLE LITERALLY COULDN'T RUN THE BALL TO THE RIGHT SIDE LAST YEAR!!

I like this pick, I love it if we can get a second rounder out of Brown. If the Landry knee/back news is overblown...I would be over the moon if we could turn whatever we get for Brown and our current second into the pick that gets us Landry.

It can happen but their is risk in trading for a player who is rehabbing. He appears on track for TC but that is no guarantee. I would be OK with holding on to him and moving him in TC/preseason if the offers are not very good or if there are no offers at all at the moment. Patriots may have interest right now but medical can sour them on making this a reality right now and unfortunately we have no access to medical info beyond what Lynch fed us.

Brown was popular because he was a 7th round pick, and everyone loves a steal. If he were a high-round pick, there was be a lot more "fat, dumb, lazy, bust" comments on this board. He isn't a Shanahan guy, and he isn' a "Monday guy." If he sticks with the team (I expect that he will not), he will probably beat Gilliam as our swing tackle b/c I expect McGlinch to start at RT.
Despite recovering from injury and being out-of-shape again, I expect Brown to get a lot of interest on the trade block. There are a number of teams with huge needs at OT and not a whole lot remaining in the draft or FA.
We had CRAZY turnover last offseason as our HC and GM get their guys in place. This is another one of those moves. I support it.

So I guess that throws off a pattern I thought we could start to figure out, guess not.
Just at the combine but they kept it under wraps on purpose.

We honestly shouldn't be shocked by this. MM and Simms told us this was the pick. Hero and Phx got me through the stages of acceptance pretty quick.
I'm good with the pick. The positional value is there. Come to find out, the need is there. Also, his intangibles continue the development of our culture rebuild.
And please no more "could've had him later". You don't, and can't, know that.

Patriots, 49ers are talking about a possible trade for San Fran OT Trent Brown, per source.
Let's do this! Get our second round pick back and draft Harold Landry
I don't think Brown has that kind of trade value. Even Brown and #59 probably won't get us #43, unless the Patriots just enjoy making bad trades with the 49ers. But if all they can get is a late-round pick, they shouldn't make the trade. I'd rather keep Brown for one season of depth and then let him go.
As for McGlinchey, I feel like I did when they drafted Armstead. I knew it could happen, was disappointed when it did, and now I just hope he's better than I think he is. The problem with speed rushers was sometimes attributed to slow feet, but maybe it's just a technique problem that can be fixed. If nothing else, he should be a pretty good right tackle.

Chris Simms leaked the pick and then tried to play it off like it was just a guess. He also alluded to the imminent departure of Trent Brown if you listen closely.
