f**king pathetic

the blocking or the horrible rap from a 8 year old who thinks he's a gangster

One thing that stands out to me is his inability to anchor. To me, after those PRP injections, he seems to be trying to overcompensate for it in PP. He's trying to get back too fast to guard against the pass rush and it's not responding quick enough...off balance, not set, not anchored and it's game over. Running in a straight line seems to be fine for him. Anyone who's had knee injuries can relate. I still think that's the real reason why he's playing so light...protect that knee.

Just my theory. That and he was never a quality PP anyhow so this just makes it look even wirfs, er, worse.

I'd be interested in going back to McGs first season, and going thru every game...and then pulling tape on all games since and finding out....just what happened between then and now, if this is some kind of personal issue as has been suggested, then find out and work on it. But if it is some change in his play, then work on that also.

somehow he just doesn't look like the same guy. Something happened. Find it and fix it. IF it's personal, , well, ok, that is different. But still it can be worked on.

Joe Staley retired. That's what happened

That and maybe a after a super bowl slump. he's still a talented blocker on a position that values the run blocking, unlike the left side. Also he's still relatively young and hopefully Foerster and the other OLine coaches can get him back on track to developing those pass protection skills. We shall see.

It's not like he's a stumbling fool out there with no technique, he just really needs to hit the weight room more imo. What's worrying about him that he doesn't seem like a big workout guy. He has a body type that looks like he can add more mass to it. He's not a "fat" OL, so at least he needs to hit the weights some more.
