No. If you keep the HC out of the draft/FA war room you might as well fire him now. That's simply not how a viable front office works. You HAVE TO involve the head coach.
So, that being the case, is Shanny on the hot seat in your perspective? Because that's what you're implying by suggesting this.

I has a MAD
Welp, thank god for Morris. His quickness and vision in traffic against the Colts had me thinking "Damn, how was this guy still available?" I thought he looked a lot more natural as a runner than Jet.
And who knows, maybe Breida is an All-Pro in the making. All I can do at this point is dwell in delusion.

Son of a b.......
Only positive I can see is that both he and brieda went down early enough so we had to sign Morris. If not, we would really be screwed.

The biggest player eval missteps of the 49ers new regime are 100% on Kyle falling in love with very specific players that don't pan out and don't meet their market value. McKinnon simply wasn't worth a $12m for yr1 deal, Beathard simply wasn't worth a high 4th and 5th, Joe Williams had no business going early 4th ahead of other stud rb's. Garcon has no business making more than $12m per at 32. I pray that McGlinchey and Pettis aren't the next in line, but the year 1 track record of Kyle's hand picked players is terrible. Amazing coach, terrible evaluation. We need to do what most teams do and get his wish list of player types he remove his emotion from the equation. He's like a homer that takes his 3rd rd ranked player in the 1st of fantasy drafts.
Didnt he draft an injured player too who's not playing this season

This. It isn't "our" money anyway.
It was a good signing knowing what they knew up until today. It may still be a good signing for 2019+. You cannot predict the future on Niner Talk any better than anyone in the 49er front office or coaching staff. They take the best shots they have based on the information they have, then you let things fall as they may.
It sucks that it happened, but there's no benefit to whining about it.

Don't panic. We still have that stud Joe Williams, which must surely was handpicked by Shanny after passing on some great players for a situation like this.
