You only thinking in terms of plays and offense only, unlike other castoffs, JG knows the players well. People only thinking about when we play them also, thinking in terms of playing checkers rather than chess.

Yep. Rams are still probably a playoff team with Jimmy. There is 0 chance with wolford

SWH didn't really think that through lol.

I get that Jimmy would be better than their backup. I would rather Jimmy not go there either. I just simply meant that the Rams with Jimmy are not nearly the threat that they are with Stafford.

In this made up scenario, it would be the Rams with Jimmy because Stafford would be hurt and unable to play, or it would be the Rams with Stafford without an injury. I'll sign up for the former over the latter.

lol we see SEA constantly signing our cast-offs. how's our record been against them?

even the smallest bit of info can create a competitive advantage. identifying one play in a certain situation during a game is enough to change the outcome. some fans saying we should all hope JG joins the Rams is ridiculous.

I literally addressed the Seattle point in my original post. I can't go back and change the outcome, but I am willing to absolutely defend the position Seattle would have lost the majority of the games against the 49ers over the past five years had they been without RW. RW, a player who has never been on the 49ers. Further, most of RW's success against the 49ers has not been by beating their defense with some sort of inside knowledge, it's been him doing what he always does--escaping, extending plays, and improvising. And if we are going the Seattle route, then by your logic, the signing of Sherman should have meant the 49ers' offense should have been unstoppable against Seattle the entire duration Sherman was with the team. Afterall, inside knowledge, amirite?

And while the smallest bit of information may provide a competitive advantage, the question is how much information can JG provide that isn't readily available by those who diligently study the film? I concede JG may provide some knowledge, but I disagree said knowledge is significant enough to alter things, consistently. Otherwise there would be a long history of teams signing cast-offs from team x, and then molly-whopping team x the next few times the teams play each other. There simply is no historical data to support such a claim. For each single event you can show, I can show a counter event (at least one, and that's being conservative).

Like I said, I don't doubt JG can provide some "inside" information. I simply doubt said information provides a significant competitive advantage, otherwise history would provide evidence backing up such a claim. In addition, teams would sign at least one cut player from as many teams as they could, each offseason, in order to acquire this "treasure trove" of knowledge.

This guy footballs.

But your made up scenario would never happen. With Stafford healthy, the Rams wouldn't pick up JG, even if he is released. The ONLY scenario where JG ends up with the Rams is with Stafford injured and unable to play.

So it's never going to be a Stafford or JG comparison. If JG ended up with the Rams, it would be because Stafford can't play. So them getting him wouldn't be a downgrade at all. It would be a massive upgrade from their current backup.

you have a better chance seeing Grappy in Seattle because Ol' Peetey just loves to annoy our organization who he was a fan of growing up.. .

Don't worry guys, KS10 got this figure out already... He fully trust 7 and the Rooke to handle the offense just in case Baby Face Lance gets hurt.
Because of the whole Stafford situation I don't think we can cut Jimmy now. Jimmy is not great but he would still be much better than anybody the Rams could go after if Stafford misses alot of time. It's very slim pickens out there for them if their starter goes down. Sudfeld might even be an upgrade over their backup QB or anybody they could trade for or sign in free agency. So hopefully Lynch can find a trade partner, Even if we only get a 5th for Jimmy.
I would even do a pick swap for an AFC team, like give a team our 7th for their 6th or 5th. ANYTHING.

I think the most likely trade scenario is one where the return on the trade has a lot of conditionals. A 6th that can become a 5th if Jimmy starts every game and can become as high as a 4th if Jimmy starts every game, wins MVP, and wins the Super Bowl.

Well looks like he will be released the day of final cuts like most expected

The smart thing to do. I was worried they would try to do right by Jimmy over what's right for the team. No reason to cut him before that, It does nothing to benefit the team. It's not like we need the cap space at the moment.

Still hoping we can get a day 3 pick or an OLine trade for him. But yeah, it's looking like he'll be cut the day before the 53 day.
