I see this touted a lot. Given ALL THE RESOURCES available in this day and age, and with players, including QBs, changing teams all the time, why do you feel like if JG goes elsewhere he is some sort of key inside KS's mind? I certainly concede JG will bring some, perhaps a substantial amount, of information with him. But if said knowledge was so significant, you would see opposing teams snagging other teams' cast-offs for the stated advantage, followed up by significant victories in the months / years that follow. But this does not happen with any consistency. For instance, Seattle has snagged ex 49ers' players for years. Yet, have their victories really been because of inside knowledge? I'm willing to bet if you took away RW, the Seahawks would have lost the majority of the last dozen or so games against the 49ers, and Russ has never been a 49er.

No doubt, wherever JG lands, he will bring some inside information. No I do not want him going to a rival, no much how much I joke about Fred Warner enjoying all the interceptions. And no I do not want JG cut today just to cut him. But if he goes to an NFCW team, I'm not losing sleep over it. I'd rather face a JG led team than a Stafford, Kyler, or Russ (I know he's not in Seattle anymore) led team.

lol we see SEA constantly signing our cast-offs. how's our record been against them?

even the smallest bit of info can create a competitive advantage. identifying one play in a certain situation during a game is enough to change the outcome. some fans saying we should all hope JG joins the Rams is ridiculous.

I literally addressed the Seattle point in my original post. I can't go back and change the outcome, but I am willing to absolutely defend the position Seattle would have lost the majority of the games against the 49ers over the past five years had they been without RW. RW, a player who has never been on the 49ers. Further, most of RW's success against the 49ers has not been by beating their defense with some sort of inside knowledge, it's been him doing what he always does--escaping, extending plays, and improvising. And if we are going the Seattle route, then by your logic, the signing of Sherman should have meant the 49ers' offense should have been unstoppable against Seattle the entire duration Sherman was with the team. Afterall, inside knowledge, amirite?

And while the smallest bit of information may provide a competitive advantage, the question is how much information can JG provide that isn't readily available by those who diligently study the film? I concede JG may provide some knowledge, but I disagree said knowledge is significant enough to alter things, consistently. Otherwise there would be a long history of teams signing cast-offs from team x, and then molly-whopping team x the next few times the teams play each other. There simply is no historical data to support such a claim. For each single event you can show, I can show a counter event (at least one, and that's being conservative).

Like I said, I don't doubt JG can provide some "inside" information. I simply doubt said information provides a significant competitive advantage, otherwise history would provide evidence backing up such a claim. In addition, teams would sign at least one cut player from as many teams as they could, each offseason, in order to acquire this "treasure trove" of knowledge.

I realize there is a lot of Jimmy G hate which is so silly. No matter, you never give a division rival any kind of favor. Kyle has said that the playbook will not change but will have a few new wrinkles. It is not just about a playbook's content; it is about individual players mindset that you don't get on film and only be being a teammate.

Sure there will be some new wrinkles but mostly Trey lets us use all of the playbook while giving us that second play potential as well

McVay wouldn't get much more from Jimmy than he does film. The brilliance of what Kyle does is his use of one or more plays to set up other plays. It's the way he calls the plays, not the plays themselves.

He wants a new extension and is currently being paid 6M+. A center, only if that person a) fits what the niners do and b) is better than what they have. Other wise I'd rather have a draft pick, even if it is only a 5th rounder.
