I've said that right from the beginning of the week. When Jimmy first became our starter, didn't we do a poll on how many games we will win from then until the end of the season under Jimmy G? Most have said 2-3 and the Jags and Rams were always regarded as losses.
Let's be real here, Jimmy might be great, but the supporting cast is just not good enough to go against top teams. It won't be Jimmy's fault if we lose this game. As long as he does what he can do under the circumstances and not get hurt, I will be more than happy.
That's pretty much where I'm coming from. It is a real rag tag crew; JG can only carry them so far. I think he will have a tough game. The one hope is that somehow the OL can get some decent holes for the run game to get going. That's a long shot, though. What makes it less unlikely is that Shanahan is calling the plays. I wish I understood the details of what he is doing in his play calling, but it is obvious that he is scheming like crazy away from the players weaknesses and toward their strengths.
If the TOP doesn't become too imbalanced by the offense not staying on the field, I think the defense can play their offense pretty scrappy. All in all I like to believe that the 9ers will win, but my head tells me, not this time. But that would be okay if JG doesn't get hurt and the team doesn't lose too much momentum.

As I have posted earlier, the only hope for us in this game is if we can get the run came rolling. The Jags' D is No.1 in passing D, but for some reason they only rank 19th in Run D. If we can exploit that, hopefully they will then respect the run and wind down the pass rush a bit to give Jimmy just about enough time to make his throws. When you are dealing with a team that has 51 sacks in 14 games, that usually means total domination at the line of scrimmage which means Jimmy might not even get 2 seconds to get the ball out. The O-line and Carlos Hyde will really have to step up big time to give us a chance. And that is only the pass rush, we haven't even talked about their back end, their DBs are all ball hawks, they already have 20 INTs to date. Once you add that to be ferocious pass rush up front, it is the perfect recipe for turnovers. I would expect Jimmy to throw may be a couple of picks in this game easy.
Sure, of course I want the 9ers to win, but like you said once you use your head to think about it instead of being over emotional, I would say the chance of winning is pretty slim. But, hey this is football, let's see what happens.
I didn't know the Jags could just rush 4 and get to the QB. Man, this is going to be one hell of a tough game.
Yeah that's why I just want Garoppolo to finish this game healthy lol this is probably the best defense we will have faced all year. Their rush is tremendous.

If they only need to rush 4 without blitzing and drop back the rest, how the hell can we get the passing game going?
That's why I said we MUST get our run game going no matter what and exploit their Run D which only ranks 19th. They have to respect the run to give our pass game a chance.

Yeah they're very similar to Seattle a few years ago.

I think the OL will be pumped to play out-of-their-minds to protect Garoppolo … question being, will it be enough
questions abound (in these forums) about how Kyle' play calls … considering our 1st two QB' this season I'm good with his approach
he is a set-up artist with the calls … IMO, this area of the game equals advantage to the 49ers
remember Kyle stating "he doesn't like his QB to wear arm bands" … and that he wants them be at one, with his system
Jimmy isn't there yet, hence the armband … I'd venture Jax'ville, will see plays this Sunday, yet to be put on film
this is where we can win the game … since Jimmy, the TOP has increased which has helped the "D" tremendously
A Jax'ville poster in the "Game Day Thread", said their weakness is the middle of their "D" … Kyle needs ton exploit this are,
to control TOP, and tire out their "D" through prolonged play if possible. A defensive TD, would be nice as well.

So if anyone has the technological know-how go to 0:29 - 0:33 of this video... If you could make a slow motion gif of the throwing motions of Garoppolo and Beathard as they throw simultaneously and add a line that traces the elbow of both these QBs from the video below. It seems like it could blow up on the internet as a teaching tool for younger QBs. Throughout the entire sequence you see Jimmy G has no wasted motion in his throw and compare that to Beathard... especially when watching the path of the elbows through the throw.
Note: Watch Jimmy's hand placement on the ball at the 0:31 second mark. No laces, he doesnt use the laces of the football which helps get the ball out quicker. More importantly: Take your throwing hand and form a "C" (backwards if right handed), that is how Garoppolo throws the ball. Now take your hand and form a "U", thats how Beathard throws the ball. Throwing with a C grip allows a QB to both drive the ball and still allows them to be accurate on touch throws. QBs that throw with a U grip have their passes often sail on them when trying to hit touch throws. Look at any film of any QB, this holds up the overwhelming majority of the time. It is also what Brady has written down in his locker for game day.
The 4 seconds from 0:29 to 0:33 with a tracer on the elbow and a pause at 0:31 to highlight hand position will teach whoever wants to know perfect technique.

The 2011 team tied the Packers for takeaways (38 I believe).
Where the 2011 team had the edge was TO differential, which I believe was +28.
Main reason Packers probably were 15-1 that year besides Rodgers throwing 46 TDs, was the TO ratio inflating how good their defense really was.
Come playoff time, the Giants smashed them in Lambeau and then the next year opener the 49ers beat them there too.
