There we go,...you're being converted! genius' point this entire time has simply been that we can only win games because of Jimmy,...we can't lose games because of him. Why everyone cant just agree on this simple premise is beyond me.

Now let's all sing kum ba yah, think happy thoughts, and cheerlead our team to a 19-0 record!!

You know where this argument falls apart. If we had Patrick Mahomes would we be playing the Chiefs? Probably not. They may still have Alex who may still have his leg. We also wouldn't have Bosa though so the d wouldn't be anywhere near as good. None of this stuff can be projected so it really doesn't matter.

Matt Ryan had like a 40-50 point higher QB rating over Tom Brady in their SB so that should tell you how non telling that stat can be.

You could've made your point without bringing up QB rating in the 4th quarter. It actually makes you seem like you have an agenda in regards to Jimmy.

He literally could've been perfect in the first 3 quarters and the lowest 4th qtr qb rating would've have mattered at all. In the context of that game had our defense kept them from converting 3rd and 15 we probably win regardless.

What another QB could've done with our offense is all hypothetical some could've done better, some could've been worse. Yet QB rating alone doesn't lose a game and like i said before the pick at the end wasn't even a bad play, it did however give him an awful 4th quarter qb rating...something box score watchers have clung to like all the other crazy s**t didn't happen in the final 7 minutes.

If he was perfect we'd be up by 28 and there wouldn't be a snowball's chance in Hell they could comeback. And he wasn't close to being perfect either throwing a pick that gave them 3, and missing numerous plays that cost us points. He played well in the 1st 3 but not crazy good.

Where I agree with you here is that his 4th quarter rating is trashed by a garbage time pick. I also agree that QB rating can be misleading because it doesn't factor in sacks/ fumbles which gets into Ryan's costly blunders. Jimmy wasn't historically bad in the 4th we just did nothing as a team.

Kittle will continue to show why no island is safe when he rolls..

Trent will run around underneath the passing lane...

.. and lets not forget, TRENT "THE BIG CAT" WILLIAMS is 10x better than Granpa Staley !!!

Agree with everything but the last, Trent is better than Staley, but not 10 times, Staley was an All Pro/Pro Bowler, he's a future HOF'er, you're discrediting his play.

NO NO NO NO...

Staley's had my respect since we drafted him.. I will never discredit his plays or achievements.. but the guy (IMO) has been done since the year we lost that SB vs Baltimore..

ALSO, with all due respect Rules... and I do respect 80% of your posts, but I just don't count PRO BOWLERS anymore.. I just don't. .. I haven't since the years of SF and Dallas in the 90s..

IT'S JUST a popularity contest now I believe... and I rather watch Arena League II than watch the PRO BOWL..

Staley's been a good-great player his entire career, he hasn't been done for YEARS, he's been playing well for years.

https://www.pff.com/news/nfl-49ers-veteran-joe-staley-retires-after-13-seasons-in-the-nfl

Staley's career will go down as one of the best from any linemen of the PFF era. We began grading in 2006, so Staley is another player for whom we now have a complete data set. He finishes up without ever having a below-average season in terms of PFF grade. The worst grade of his career was a 68.6 — back in an injury-shortened 2010 season — and in the nine seasons following that, he didn't grade lower than 77.9, with eight of the nine seasons finishing north of 80.0.

I don't follow that PFF bull crap... sorry I just don't... i never did.. and never will.. stats??

eyes dont lie, and Staley in my eyes was on the same boat with Eli Manning for the last 3 years..

If he's been washed up since 2012, then why was he named to the 2010's All Decade Team?

KNOCK KNOCK !!

ANYONE THERE??

I didn't think so...

the guy was named to the All Decade Team NOT because of the last 3 YEARS..

2019 minus 3 years = 2016.... NOT 2012..

MAN, you bad in MATH as well ??

I mean, he carried a s**tty team on his back

5-0 in 2017 - that team was really xi-itty, I totally agree.
Really hoping Jim's velocity will come back to normal as TC progresses and once we get to the season. I can't help but wonder if the knee brace is a factor. Him not being able to really twist his plant leg, or maybe he's just too used to not using it from last year & it's going to take time to get back into the habit of using his lower body in his throwing motion.
hyped af about the 10-11 connection

Hoyer and Beathard sucked, but they were still close in many games. That team wasn't great, but it wasn't s****y. The worst part about that team was the QB play. There were better FAs than Hoyer, and there were much better QBs to draft than Beathard. John and Kyle f****d up bad as far as acquiring QBs goes during that offseason.

I'm not taking anything away from Jimmys 2017. He was unbelievable outside of the Rams game. John/Kyle caught the biggest break of their careers when BB handed Jimmy to us, but that 2017 team was better than we think. They were just waiting for a QB to give them a real reason to play.

You kidding me? That team was bottom of the barrell. Jimmy elevated it.

What makes you think he doesn't have velocity on his throws?

It wasn't as good as it was in 2017-18 before his injury. That's all. Now that he's 2 years removed, it should be back to normal. That's all, and the fact he still wears his brace is concerning (to me, I know a lot of people still want him to wear it forever).

He did elevate the team. but it wasn't bottom of the barrel imo. Bottom of the barrel is 2004 or 2016 type rosters. I did say Jimmy was unbelievable and fooled me into thinking he was a top 5 QB, so it's not like I'm trying to say he didn't play well in 2017.

Just giving credit due credit to guys like Kittle and Buckner and Juszczyk. Even s****y players like Colbert and Goodwin played the best football of their lives.

He also wasn't hurt then. He was basically ad-libbing the whole time in 2017. That was just his natural talent since he wasn't running Shanahan's offense yet since just got to the team. Jim can, and I believe will be one of the top QBs in the league. He has the skill to do it, and I think he proves it this year.
