Whether Jimmy G admits he was thinking about the knee or not, I absolutely believe he was playing to preserve himself and not take any hits. As far as I can tell, his mindset was to save himself for the season and "if he throws an interception, so what? It's better than a sack and potential injury."

His play will either change all this negative perception or make it worse.

How poor of OL talent that you know you're on national TV and Kyle is asking you to protect the franchise coming back from an ACL and you completely flop. Horrendous display by everyone on that OL. JG looked terrified to plant his foot let alone look past the pressure that was instantly coming. Then Kyle calls his intermediate routes. JG needed some nice easy passes to at least start. He was never going to get in any rhythm but at least give the man a chance.
Kyle better be careful. Numerous talented QB's have been psychologically destroyed in this league due to horrendous OL play. Hell, we've harbored about half a dozen here alone over the years.
Dude he needs game reps...I was worried at first but he's gotta move around that pocket a little. Joe (our best lineman top 5 LT) totally whiffed on Chubb. That's either his fault or someone messed up on the protection call.
I'd rather have him working out the rust now vs on 9/8...I do wish kyle would have called something easier. I didn't see a single play-action call with him there, maybe throw a bootleg to get him moving a little.
I don't think the OL played well, but it wasn't just on them.
I hope he get's to play the whole 1st half next week...Jimmy G needs to get his swag back.

I see this carrying over into the regular season. I hope our run game is solid.

I think Jimmy gets extensive work this third preseason game. Knock that rust off heading into the opener.

If he looks like this in that game, I will absolutely be full-blown worried. Right now, I'm only mildly concerned...

In retrospect even though I think he needs the work, I don't think Jimmy should have played last night. The line was so obviously a mess as to be laughable. The second the big guns came off the field for Denver we started moving the ball. It was no coincidence and it wasn't C.J. We should have at least waited for game 3 when Person is back.

Yeah, if he plays poorly and loses his confidence heading into the opener - I will officially be worried.

I mean the big guns for Denver are Chubb and Miller...we have very good tackles to matchup vs them. Joe whiffed on that Chubb hit and that's on him BUT that's part of football, Jimmy G needs to get hit. He needs to have live reps knowing there's real pressure coming.
He's gotta move a little and his footwork was poop. You could tell he was nervous with his knee, gotta get that out of your mind, more real football will help with that.

If he's concerned about the knee — he can't just turn it off in the regular season. Dude needs somebody to hit his knee.

It looked like Joe was expecting help inside. The whole play looked weird.

He'll get hit plenty. This line gave up the most qb hits in the NFL last year. It is no wonder he is scared.

When should he have played then? Next game is the unofficial dress rehearsal game. If not then, then it's risky business having him get his first reps on the first game.
