It was a joke about how Jimmy's knee is amputated. Of course he can't walk with needy children.

Yeah but if he really cared, he'd be out there in a wheelchair.

probably roll off stage trying to get a few more feet and and injure his neck

Last Sunday's game was very encouraging - you can see CJ has definitely improved from last year. Now, if he can just work on processing things at the line of scrimmage a little faster and executing a little faster after the snap, he can really make a jump. Also, still needs to work on not having balls deflected by D-lineman...might have to work on adjusting his arm angle like Jimmy does and like Rivers showed last Sunday (he's a master at it). Converting those key 3rd Downs to keep drives alive, especially when you're coming from behind or trying to protect a lead and keeping the clock moving, are other areas where I'm hoping to see improvement.

All in all, he's showing good progress in Year 2.
Doesn't make sense this guy getting rocked at least once or twice every games seemed like. Just because he can get up from them doesn't mean he should play like he could.

Ain't no good without longevity either.

No one is saying Beathard is better than Jimmy. No one is even saying Beathard is as good as Jimmy. People (myself included) are simply saying he did a great job this past week and the passing offense didnt look any worse from a production standpoint than it has in any Jimmy start this season.

Jimmy is the better quarterback. I will repeat....Jimmy is the better QB.

But Beathard played his ass off and was a big reason we were even in that game.

Beathard is pretty close to being better
The one thing that surprised me is just how slow Jimmy is. n***a is Peyton Manning slow. He's built like he should run faster. Maybe it's those big hairy Italian balls.

Wish he had CJ's mobility.

Fantastic...

Good to know young QB's dont even know what the heck is going on, and are just praying the one route they remember gets open.

This is why you can't listen to the ignorant individuals who are oblivious to a lot of factors affecting one's play and call a player garbage in his rookie season, despite statistically outperforming many of the other top quarterbacks in the league by comparison to their rookies years. Not to mention doing so while trying to operate what is widely known as the most complicated scheme in the NFL and do it with an incredibly weak supporting cast missing linemen and receivers.

Matt Ryan was confused with this playbook for a year and he had a top core of playmakers around him.

Exactly. This team has holes, yes, but we also have talent at a number of areas. QB, RB, TE, DT and LB are the top five.

We do still need a big time receiver, pass rusher, tight end depth, and upgrades on the OL and linebacker depth. We have talent at DB but we need players to step up and emerge this year as well as to stay healthy and show consistency. Otherwise we'll need to look to the draft for new starters there too.

Good post OTC!

I think it was JoeCool who nailed it.

To paraphrase - ...we're like an expansion team at this point"

IMO, the JG hot streak inflated expectations and now it bummer-time.

Are you talking about me? I never said Beathard was garbage. Its just discouraging to know that young QB's are literally calling plays that they hardly even remember, and are basically guessing on. No wonder guys look totally lost. He thinks he remembered one guy had an out route, so he was just going to look at that read and pray he got open. Meanwhile were all watching these games thinking our players are totally prepared.

This is not to say BeatHard is way behind Jimmy in every category, but you have to be joking if you think they're in the same tier.

Jimmy G has had 4 or 5 years of NFL teaching and learning compared to CJ's one. Jimmy G is a better leader? Says who?

Truth

I think Shanny just dumped the whole playbook on Garoppolo. Whereas last year, he was running a simplified offense, with limited film on him. CJ definitely has a better grasp of the playbook, but is less talented than Garoppolo.

Agree

If he has time in the pocket he'll do very well.
