Yes I would have signed a young franchise pro bowl qb who's taken his team to the playoffs multiple times. You gotta pay the market rate not be like the niners who still operate on 1990's prices.

We would let him walk and it would be celebrated.

Who needs luck for 20+ million a year when you can have gabbert for $8.50 an hour.

LOL, seriously though.... if a franchise QB can make $140M over 6 years, what does that mean for just below average starters?

In fairness we gave Kap an extension he just sucked. For 140 mil Indy is going to be screwed if Luck pulls a Kap.

luck is a real qb. not some gimmick.

(citation needed)

So far, Luck is an upgraded version of Tony Romo.

Looks great until the game actually matters and YES he's a big part of the reason why they've been one and done in the playoffs so far.

I know. But his comment is phrased like he's one and done. Truth is in 2 of their playoff seasons they won a game. Factually inaccurate.

but i bet you would welcome LUCK to the 49ers anytime of the day..

man, it's not he's fault the Colts lost to the PATRIOTS two years ago.. they weren't even supposed to be there.. as that one and done, i recall the Colts coming back to beat KC and Alex Smith..

WERE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED?????

A distinction without a difference my friend. While you are correct, I do remember that the Pats treated the Colts like new booty in prison. And Luck had what was probably the worst game of his career.

Not sure where you were going with this one....

It is inaccurate. That's my bad.

However, let's keep this in perspective. He's only won TWO playoff games.

....I wouldn't break out the gold jacket just yet.

Not for that contract. And for all the hype he gets, I really don't want to hear how he lost to Patriots so it somehow doesn't count.

Kap beat the Pats. In their house. In the snow. And before anyone cries "but the defense," check the final score.

I rest my case.

You are right baiten. Luck is way overrated so far in his career. He has very good stats and I would want him as a Niner, however if we made the playoffs I would be scared s**tless at him choking. Andy Dalton is a worse version of Andrew luck same with Tony Romo, however they all do very poorly in the playoffs when the game matters. It's not their defenses fault that their offense cannot score points, they have great tight ends great receivers and an average 0L. So far luck has been awful in the Playoffs. He gets a lot of his yards and stats in garbage time in the regular season as well. He is inconsistent. Not worth that much money at all. But if that's what the going rate is on franchise qbs....then it is what it is. They won't be able to keep many good players with lucking counting 1/6 of the cap

UHMMM... who did we not beat in the NFL that year??

we were having an outstanding year... but if you recall the game, the Patriots were coming back, but just had too many turnover...

bottom line is, Andrew Luck is considered a FRANCHISE player, and he will get paid like a FRANCHISE.. I would rather give him the money because I know his head is screw in straight..

Well, I don't remember us going undefeated that year so there's that. Two, franchise players win championships. If Andrew Luck is a franchise QB then so is Kap.

Hell, so is Tony Romo and Alex Smith for that matter. Oh yea, and we can't forget Carson Palmer.

He's about as elite as it gets.
